Confused by dino slot limit !

I thought putting a workbench in the Argentavis was going to be the work around to building Ascendant saddles that require a ridiculous amount of materials. Breed high enough Argentavises to get the maximum amount of weight to hold all the marerials, but now with a 300 limit some saddles will still be impossilbe to make. And the Bronto, why did I pump so much into weight so I only needed to make one berry trip to feed my dinos, now it will take 3 trips. This doesn't make things anymore challenging, it just causes unnecessary time wasting.

I have had the same Bronto now, a level 274, for a year and a half, her weight limit has been the same for a long time, It is just recently I can not fill her up with berries.
