The cave itself has no spawns.
All areas classified as caves have 5x dmg to the buildings whether or not they have mobs iirc (this holds true for both Hidden Cavern and Lair of the Mask) but they are popular base locations for limited accessability, being out of sight and making defenses focused rather than spread out.
Also are u experienced in pvp? Are caves viable or not really?
To answer your first question: Yes, while I consider myself more of a breeder than anything else I do have my own fair share of pvp experience.
To second, caves are ideal base location mostly for smaller tribes that cannot afford 24/7 watch for their base, some caves are large enough for bigger tribes too and can be loaded with plenty of big dinoa.
I'll list some caves i've used as a base for reference:
Kamaka Cave (22.7 - 30.4) Well hidden behind waterfall, fish spawns (including piranhas), crystal, obsidian and pearls nearby, but requires flier to start and requires quite creative building
Dragonbreath Grotto (19.6 - 65.3) Hot magma cave, has lava hazard, some resource nodes inside but no access to water (S+ mod is recommended for irrigation pipe from watersource to be hidden)
Hidana Cave (45.1 - 32.4) Difficult to access from ground, plenty of resources nearby but flier is necesary.
Jatheish Grotto (79.8 - 63.2) Has 2 big entrances, is selfsufficient (water and metal inside) but also one of the most popular base spot in the desert area.
Oluf Jungle Cave (20.5 - 27.5) Well hidden and has plenty of resources nearby but is very small and has no room for bigger dinos.
Pirate Cave (20.4 - 24.0) Has plenty of room, water ground and air entrances, crystal metal and plant species x nodes, can fit all sea creatures, fish spawns (coe and sabertooth salmon), on the downside fliker entrance is huge and hard to shut, also ome dinos may drop from it including theriz and rexes.
why is the 80-63 so popular? 2 entrances is abd isnt it? isn't the point of a cave to only have 1 entrance thus being easy to defend due to focusing all turrets to 1 place even with 6x damage?
