I didn't change my command line of course (so no vday setting), I just ran a Steam update like I usually do.
If you want to be able to opt-out you need the command line (launch parameters) access. Most hosts don't give you this access, except through options in their user interface, which they aren't going to redesign just for an event.
My only experience is with Nitrado and G-portal, perhaps other hosts are different.
I only host for just a couple friends, so the cheap 10 slots servers have been fine. But I cannot update mods when I am sleeping. Just curious if you host did this automatically.
I could build a server, but I have crap internet (wireless to an extender, noticeable slow down during rain storms).
My server is only 15 slots and, while I have a few friends who created characters, in practice I'm the only one who play. I could use the game's single player feature but I think multiplayer is more stable and bugfree, and I can craft metal ingots even if I'm disconnected. ;)
- Server-side update for Valentine's Day event content (Randomly Colored Dinos & Chocolate Cake "eggs"), optionally run with -vday if you want to use the 3x Mating/Maturation boosts
Maybe I am being too technical but it seems that the pink dinos are mandatory and the boosted settings are optional
Ok, so I was right, Valentine's Day event is mandatory, at least for the pink dinos. It's a shame, because it ruins immersion and I couldn't care less about this event.
And WC could care less what it's player base wants or thinks. They have your money.
