Ok, basic 1*1 how steam handles big downloads...
Download the ziped data ( here 8.2GB)
Unzip the data (depending on the compression that add up to lets say 50GB)
Copy the data to the location/install (here you need another 50GB)
Delete ziped and unziped data, you are then left with the game
Tadaaaa, in the process of handling the data you need 8.2 + 50 + 50 = 108,2GB of disk space
those numbers are totaly random, but you get the concept with it...
i need to delete 2 big games to update ARK really awesome
Did you read what i wrote??? The 7.5GB are highly compressed data, if you unzip them you get data wich are waaaaay bigger
Ark download is around 20gb but when unpacked it's over 100gb so you should be able to figure out why you need space for the patch.
