How does Tek tier work
I've recently rejoined the ark and taken a look into this... This tek stuff. I've decided to make a run at it. I just want to know one thing. Does tek tier transcend survivors, or is it bound to only one?

Attaining the tek engrams isnbound to the survivor character. On officials it is almost impossible to attain them if you aren't in an alpha tribe.

If you play sp or unofficial, I recommend using the S+ mod as their tek tier is 1000x better than the tek tier in vanilla. Especially for cost to maintain.

If you have anymore questions don't hesitate to ask ^-^

The equipment itself can be given to any survivor, along with the structures and such as well. In order to equip the armor/weapons or interact with the structures, however, does require each individual survivor to have beaten the corresponding boss in order to unlock and learn the required tekgram.

You can also use can commands to learn them

TEK is unlockable by killing different bosses, the more powerful the items, the higher level the boss has to be to earn it. For example, I think the TEK replicator (which is needed to build any TEK) is unlocked by killing any of the bosses. I could be wrong.

Along with earning the Tekgrams, you can also get element from the bosses, which is used to make and power all things TEK. You cannot use TEK without knowing the Tekgram, so people can't just give it to you.

Basic Gear

TEK Chestpiece: Alpha mode Dragon

TEK Gauntlets: Gamma Megapithicus or Manticore

TEK Leggings: Gamma Dragon or Manticore

TEK Boots: Beta Broodmother

TEK Helmet: Alpha Broodmother

TEK Rifle: Beta Megapithicus or Manticore

Dang if it's just one survivor, I might not even put in the effort

If you are playing single player, the are mods with alternatives to unlocking tek.

You could get the Super Tek mod, which makes it so you can unlock the Super Tek engrams with absalutely no cost, you can make it right in your inventory, doesn't need Element to run, and has infinite durability.

it is worth it beat the bosses on alpha (aka hard) because u unlock all the engrams they got...its definately difficult (especially on the dragon and rockwell) but if u pull it off then u get all of the engrams that boss has and u get tons of element for it. Also just letting u know that element is very light but u do need it to make any of the tek engrams...other important items u need to make tek items are as follow's: Metal Ingots, Polymer and the most valuable resource Black Pearls

is that a mod?

The element factory is a mod that converts electronics into element. Super good since element is insane to farm normally and tek is super fun to use.

Other bautounlockengrams=True

Every time you level up it unlocks all engrams at that level. Very good for dealing with tek tier and engram requirements for lots of mods

normally i tend to avoid getting certain mods that either a) make things too easy or b) make the game crazy hard or make me think that my computer is made out of cheese from huge lag

I'm not spending 3000 hours grinding out the materials for boss fights, then another thousand hours fighitng the bosses, so I can get enough element to make 1 cloning station. That's pathetic.

In situations like that I'll farm a chunk of element and then spawn in the rest.. single player is my preference but a lot of items have absurd requirements since they are often balanced around multiplayer and having 30+ people contributing materials to make them.. I have no idea why the developers didn't scale down the recipe requirements for some things in single player.. for us to make things like cloning chambers.. industrial forges and chemistry stations it's a royal pain in the behind to farm the metal and other items needed to do it.. specially if you are playing without modifying player and dino stat values..

Good luck farming 5000+ metal ingots when your Ankylo can only carry about 600 weight and it takes you about 12 minutes to run to the nearest metal ore deposits XD
I love ARK but that's royally taking the p*** lol
I don't feel guilty about maxing out the carry weight stats at all.. not when those items demand such absurd amounts of resources to make.. sure that several thousand weight number maybe a little extreme but it's either that or spend literally weeks smacking rocks and running back and fore your base.

Umm, why don't you just take a couple of weight Dinos for pack animals? I just singlehandedly gathered mats for an industrial grinder, forge, cooker and chem bench in 2 days. I had all of the utility tames in place as well as a few high weight tames of course. Nothing wrong with adjusting things, but it's possible on base rates (as long as you aren't on PvP where other players are a threat) to grind pretty quick as long as you properly prepared yourself.

Edit: I just want to be very clear that I'm not against adjusting to make the game more enjoyable, just stating that it doesn't HAVE to be adjusted if you don't mind the time sheet prepping. Of course this doesn't apply to element really, but for the others.
