Fastest way to get a basalisk?
So my main goal in my next playthrough is going to be getting a basilisk. Any way to do this especially quickly? I will likely play on ragnorak if that helps as it has the most complete creature list

Spawn it in. The Basilisk isn't in Ragnarok unless you mod it in. The only way to tame it is via fertilised rock drake eggs which you get on the Aberration map. Again, you could use mods, but if you want to do it vanilla, it's not possible to tame one without starting on Aberration.

Gotcha. Well that sucks. The aberration map seems really boring to me so id hate to be stuck there just because I want a basalisk

Just drop a bunch of fertilized eggs around it and make it come out of the ground.
After a while it will eat eggs and you're fine.

Yeah, my main issue is not wanting to have to play on aberration for a whole playthrough. I was hoping there was a way I could get it and bring it to ragnorak or the island. Bumber.

You're playing a game that's main focus is custom play and modded content. There are mods in the workshop section from which you can in single player add all the aberration assets and dinos to other maps including ragnarok.

Once you do that, getting a basilisk is easy as grabbing rock drake eggs and doing its taming method.

Otherwise the 100% fastest way is to use admin commands on your ragnarok map without the mod and just spawn in one of the level that you wish, use the dotame command and you've got yourself a basilisk.

But after a few hours, you're going to get bored with it and park it most likely.

Its an ab dinos it pretty useless on the other maps because #1 it is huge #2 it is slow compared to flier. It is helpful on rag because it can burrow and is tanky because there are no flier.

Yeah. Youre right. I just hate using mods because then if I decide to play official it will feel off. And also of you have a problem finding a mod creature there is no wiki to look up what I am potentially doing wrong.

So no legit way to bring a basilisk to the other maps?

Um, the mods that have basilsk follow the same taming rules as the wiki one.

Also most of the good mods out there have faq's and other info on their workshop pages that operate the same as a wiki or better.

Again, dont get erroneously stuck in the thinking that mods are "legit". After all, remember that Wildcard is also paying $4,000 a month stipends to mod makers in the Sponsored Mods program and 3 of the current 5 DLC's have previously been mods that WC bought out and hired the mod makers on. Again Ark is a game about modded content and customized game play. Its a shame though because your wants become a non issue once you start understanding that and why the majority of the player based play on servers that do so accordningly.

This is just one of the current popular mods that add aberration dinos to the map.

https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=1267677473&searchtext=aberration

Additionally, there is one map that also already fully incorporates into it all the dinos of abs se, ragnarok etc and terrain assets as well:

https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=715028562&searchtext=the+volcano

Since you play in single player and do not care for the aberration map, you can:

1. As mentioned before spawn in and "dotame" dinos as you wish.

2. Use Cross Aberration mod for all dinos on rag

3. Use the Volcano Map instead

4. Add the Volcano map to your single player maps and use it instead to get the desired basilsk to then use the terminal to upload and then download onto ragnarok

5. Do similar with aberration if you can tolerate it long enough to do.

And other suggestions.

Otherwise, you're just going to have to give up on your wants until you're willing to roll with the options that wildcard gives you(remember they made the dev kit you know) to satisfy your wants.

Thanks for the replies. I will likely jump back into the game for a while and maybe spawn in a basilisk to see how detrimental their size might be on other maps. If they are still useful ill probably grab a mod.

So one last question, are they useful? I love snake like creatures and the basilisk looks cooler and seems to be strong than the titanoboa but even though it has pretty solid stats I never hear it talked about much

They're basically just a larger titanoboa that you can ride and with a ranged, short aoe capability. They're not very useful on most maps outside of pve and outside of aberration because plenty of other dinos have more effectivity for various other reasons/purposes.

Whether they are crap or not, if you like snakes and want one, you should get one :)

Yeah but if they serve no purpose or worse, are so big they constantly get in the way like certain tames do in dark and light then id rather not go through the trouble

theyre useful turrets in your base.
GreenMan Mar 25, 2018 @ 3:00pm
If you own a server and want abberation stuff, either spawn it in or play single player. You can upload it there and move it to Ragnarok without issue.

On my servers I allow up- and downloading any creature from and to Aberration. No problem uploading a basilisk there :)
