Play on Ragnorok instead.

If you insist on playing A. then answer is NO you will not get full ARK experience - you loose access to variety of animals which are not present here (not only fliers but plenty of others usefull mounts). You can craft almost anything but some thing not working (grapling hook for example). And when you will grow and will be ready for boss fights majority of Tek engrams are not available here (even such basic thing as Tek replicator so in fact you can't craft any Tek items)

I think Aberration will be too hard for you. Ragnarok is much better choice.

think of the different maps as progression. you need to finish all the bosses to build everything

Why is Ragnarok better Singleplayer Experience than the original Map from the Game The Island? Just want to know....

WAY bigger map. Has every creature but 1-2 in the game on it from every map.

to do the full progression of the game, you need to play the island all the way through to alpha ascension, defeating all 3 bosses on alpha along the way, and getting your extra 15 player levels......the story then says to go and do scorched earth, although this is not needed, as its one boss ( the manticore ) only unlocks tekgrams that can be unlocked on the island....then the story progresses to aberration, with its one boss giving ascension again ( 15 levels for alpha ).....from there a cutscene supposedly takes you to the next dlc which is available sometime this year...

i do, however, agree with the guys above, Ragnarok is an amazing map, with a combination of the island and scorched earths dinos, and is a great place to start and learn all of the mechanics of the game

(btw 20 hrs on a map is nothing at all).

From my experience (play only single player) Ragnarok may be too big for one player, so I would recommend playing on Island

Defo go for it, Ive played Aberration loads SP and its great fun. Although you lose some animals you also gain some so dont listen to the haters. Ive played all the maps SP and my favs are the Island and Aberration.

If you just started the game, you should play the Island. Cause once you move to Ragnarok or Center you might not want to move back because the distribution of resources is easier. The Island forces you to explore.

In SP you can transfer you character (and dinos and stuff) to other maps. So you could play Island and Ragnarok and/or the Center all at the same time. But make sure to backup your files in case of errors.

If ab appeals to you try it, however the Island is what I recomment because #1 that is wild card's baby and gets the most love and #2 most people play on the island in official so if you every feel liek trying official out and want to be around alot fo people you will alreayd ahve experience on the map.
