I know what the Extinction DLC is about. 100% positive with proof!
If you want to know what Extinction will be about, please read this. I'm 100% positive I figured it out.

I've been reeling about the end of Aberation. The vents, the yellow obelisk, and the big things in the background but after examining the end cutscene in Ark Prime (that's the original game not dlc), I finally figured out what Extinction will be about!

I'm so hyped :D

There are some spoilers down here about aberation and the upcoming dlc so enter at your own risk

I'm going to start with the story line. I think I have bad news folks, there won't be a huge Mei Yin Boss fight or Helena. This is my logic trail: I started watching the Little Nightmares DLC (check out the gaming beaver) and got to thinking how it related to the Ark game. Before you think that's strange, I'm thinking in general. The Little Nightmares DLCs focused on 3 things: the depths of the maw (or world), the nomes (or workers), and finally, the family (owners of the maw). What if Ark was following a similar progression? Ark Prime introduces conflict (survival) along with accounts of other survivors; Scorched earth produces more conflict (desert survival), explains the function of the obelisks (that they limit a survivors power by destroying his/her progress. Nosti is the example here), and further story explanation; Aberation was the accounts come to life. In aberration, the characters left tantalizing and permanent marks on the map (a space station blown up and a tek city) and we even get to meet (and if you are prepared, kill) one of them (Rockwell). So what is left? We saw the capabilities of the ark and the "end" of the explorer notes (I imagine we will discover their fates on extinction. If they survived, what happened and if they died what killed them). What could possibly be next? What question hasn't been answered?

How?

How do the arks work and how were they built? This is where I am freaking out because I am 100% positive I'm right and I'll post screenshots if I can find them (I'll post them at the end with captions).

The vents we see on the left and right of the screen at the end of Aberation, they look like something on the underside of the obelisk. If you fly under a section of the obelisk, you see a vent with 5 things. The vents in the cutscene had 7 so what could this be?

I call them alpha obelisks.

They are the huge structures we see outside the arks at the end of Ark Prime. I think they control the "biosphere" or the holographic projection which makes the ocean look like it lasts forever and it would also keep asteroids and radiation out. When the explorers on aberration blew one up, the map's hologram died, and the surface burned up with sunlight and radiation. These vents could control temperature. Especially if the surrounding area is volcanic (more theories on that later).

Now for that ominous giant structure in the background (and this proves 100% that I'm right). It's part of the alpha obelisks! Specifically, its the command center where we meet the overseer! I slow motioned frame by frame through a video I took and found that the same structure is on one of the 3 alpha obelisks in the final Ark Prime cutscene.

This proves without a doubt that we will see how the arks are made.

And on a more obvious note, the obelisks in the background really give it away. It's one obelisk but all the peices are upside down and waiting to be assembled!

So how about the really tall structures?

From what I can tell (and this is 100% speculation) I think they are space elevators. Space elevators are revered as the pinnacle of space control because they can carefully and quickly move resources and even space stations outside the atmosphere without wasting rocket fuel. I've heard people say that the first country to make one will likely become the most powerful nation on earth (and space obviously).

These towers reach beyond the clouds which make me think they collect the arks and then shoot them into space. Beyond that, I really don't know. I would appreciate feedback and theories (I'm one of those die hard, must know it all gamers).

One thing I mentioned earlier that I want to get to is the "lava." Where the water stops and the lava starts, the liquid seems purple. I want to say that's liquid element (much like the falls in aberation) but I can't be certain.

Now, I'm going to post screenshots. I might have respond to this message to make all of this fit lol.

This is the aberation cutscene. we'll use this same image for both the vent (on the right) and the command center (background).

So, I can't post images apparently. I'll post links. :https://i.ytimg.com/vi/BKnRLL2MH58/maxresdefault.jpg

This is the vent I found under the obelisk:
I can't seem to upload any self taken photos. I hope this is the only one I have issues with. If you guys know how to upload pics, please let me know.

This is the command center over the ark (note that the top can be seen in the bottom ark and the side can be seen on the left or right ark. Also, the comm center will be on the right most pillar for the left ark and the leftmost pillar for the right ark. The image should be high enough resolution to get a good zoom in): https://steamuserimages-a.akamaihd.net/ugc/857228555083708342/C0B6D97A629CA0812CD3DE37AE372DBB98D63F0E/

Also, It's difficult for me to find the right angle, but I think the large vents are on the top of the alpha obelisks

If I left anything out that I mentioned earlier, let me know. I hope to hear a lot of ideas and I will be keeping tabs on this discussion. I hope you enjoy!

I'm typing this message to make it a more recent post. I finished this message at midnight so I imagine no one will see this if I don't.

also something I just thought of, if we are learning how the obelisks function, we could be learning how the bosses/guardians are made or selected. I'm curious, what if the guardians are actually creatures from a post apocaliptic earth?

It goes without saying, there will be strange creatures. In every ark, we see a mythical creature (Ark Prime: Unicorns, Ark Scorched Earth: Pheonix, rock gollum, and dragon, Ark Aberation: ...not to sure about this one. The ravagers maybe) so I imagine we will get a mythological creature.

I don't know about dinosaurs. Last time I checked, they were extinct on earth so we might not get any at all. Dogs, cats, and rodents of unusual size are probable. Maybe giant iguanas?

It would have to go along with the map. I'm fairly certain we will be limited to the "ark" we saw in the cinematics, however, we may be able to teleport to the tek city and the alpha obelisk command center and get some suburban close quarter combat action.

What makes this 100% positive? That you said it is based on what you stated? Go check out anthomnia's videos about it.

Your having 100% confidence in your conjecture and speculation does not magically transform it into a proven fact.

It does mean you may have a future in writing facebook ads but that's about it.

Well, I guess the last DLC will be about going back to where everything started. Earth. The survivors who survived every map and every Ark like Helena will be sent back to Earth. We can speculate as much as we want but stop stating your opinion as a fact just because you think you are right.

Well, I've read this using my internet connection, thus on the internet, and everyone knows that what's on the internet is 100% true, right?

And Facebook ads... sheesh, he needs to start where everyone does at first:

9GAG posts about pseudo-confirmed theories about how Hogwarts is real and how the Star Wars prequel are the best thing after sliced bread.

Well, if it weren't, we wouldn't be having this discussion, right?

This is a good read man I enjoy reading things like this. You could be possibly right about your speculations I look forward to what you find out next. I cant wait to find out what Ark really is.

Anthomina had some interesting ideas and I don't think he's wrong about everything. I do know I've put clickbait in the title (debateable actually since the end cutscene does indeed show peices of arks scattered about) but I do believe this is what we'll see.

I'm 100% positive because of these obelisk peices. I can identify parts of a normal obelisk and the command center of a much larger "alpha" obelisk (that's not their official name that's just what I call them). We're looking at a world where these obelisks are either destroyed or dissassembled and almost ready to be put together. I can't imagine that we won't learn how or why this happens.

It seems like that's the only question: how? How did this start? what could have driven mankind to make the obelisks? Were aliens involved? What and where did element come from? I'm taking a bit of it on faith, but I have no doubt that at least some of these questions will be answered on extinction...assuming we actually get extinction.

It's only a month until summer and we haven't even seen a single mysterious mysteries. I won't be supprised if we get our first teaser in fall. Maybe even 2019.

We can't be certain for anything until more info comes out and/or the dlc itself. You can speculate all you want, but the devs can easily make it so that it isn't the case anymore. Which is why I called you out on why you shouldn't say with 100% certainty.

And i thought it was just about punching trees to get logs.
