Talk to me about bosses (without talking about bosses)
So, I am trying to avoid anything spoilery, but I know nothing about bosses in the game outside of needing to collect things to summon them. My tribe mates and I want to try a boss, but we have no idea what to expect. I am sure there are tons of guides but we want to go in with surprise.

I have some questions, but I think I want them answered with as little specificity as possible if that makes sense. *we're playing on Ragnarok*

1. The teleport pads take people and tames to the fight right? Then what are the areas that say "boss available"? Are they like random bosses while the ones on the pads are the main ones?

2. I hear boss fights have timers, so if you don't beat them in time, everything wipes and you lose everything you brought. Is that true?

3. Assuming we fail, do we have to gather all the tribute stuff again to summon the boss, or can you just try again?

4. Without checking the wiki, is there are way to know if you are "ready"? Are bosses all equally tough or are there any easy ones that should be attempted first?

Thanks for all the help!

Sorry, but its almost impossible to explain withoit spoilers. I say, you need basic infos from the Wiki or you will have a hard time.

1. The pads teleport you to the boss arena. There are different Arenas for different bosses. No idea what you mean with "boss available". There are no random bosses afaik.

2. That Timer says when the instance closes. Dont worry, you will be either done or dead when the timer runs out.

3. The materials are needed to open the portal and get used up. You dont get them back, no matter if you win or lose.

4. There are Alpha, Beta and Gamma bosses, you can see that when you open the column at the pad so its no spoiler. Different bosses need different mats, and higher bosses need more and higher lvl ones. Thats where megalodon teeth, spino sails and that stuff comes into play. Alphas are the easiest.

You need a Raidgroup of Dinos, High lvl and from breeding is recommended. Rex or Spinos are fine, Yutis and Pigs for buffs. if you dont have that, you are not ready.

The "boss available" is just something limited to Ragnarok and isn't a "canon" boss if you get me. It's more like an alpha fight.

1. Yes. Mini bosses like lava golem or iceworm queen.

2. Yes.

3. Yes, no. You lose all your gear and dinos, you have to farm every artifact and tribute again. So keep your best females and one good male as backup to regenerate your assets if SHTF.

4. Try "easy" first. All arena dificulties feature the same combo - you fight a dragon and a manticore. Dragon burns your rexes to a crisp while manticore shoots purple blobs that slooooooooooowly put your tames to sleep. Kill dragon as soon as it lands as he's 99,9% DPS that you'll face during the fight.

Dragon's damage is % based, so to a tame with 20k hp he deals much less damage than to a tame with 50k hp. Worth considering when it comes to daodon's food supply for healing or veggie cake efficiency. More HP on tames fuks u over, but too lottle HP and they die too fast.

Therizino&veg cake + yuty + daeodon works generally, unless your army spawns stuck on a cart conveniently placed on a spawn point, gets blocked by dragon body or dead golems, or in a rare case when the manticore/ the dragon refuse to land at all and flies off, which happens only around 4 out of 10 times. Bring 200% damage pump actions with 200 shotgun shells each, jsut in case.

Good luck.

I prefer auto sniper, but everybody has preferences. Yes, bring weapons, ammo and healing brew.

1. Arena bosses are always at obis/drops using tribute. "boss available" are the cave bosses. Never random, always the same boss.

2. Yes, be prepared to win!

3. You have to gather everything again. Once you go in that's your shot.

4. Well bred dinos, each arena boss has a certain type of dino that excels, but Rex overall is a multi use. Theriz are also very strong if well bred. You're looking ideally for 40+ in dmg/hp. Gamma easiest, can go in there with lower dinos, possibly even tames. A yuty and daeodon is a big help and recommended. Alpha is the hardest. Try gamma of each first to get your bearings if you don't want spoilers!

These are not bugs, these are uh... features. Otherwise I'm sure the Devs would have fixed them. Yeah.

Wow, thanks for the good info all. What I am summizing is, we're nowhere near ready.
Fox Mar 8, 2018 @ 9:05am
you should give the "Gamma" one a try before judging so, thought a long time in a similar way, then decided to just take a quick look with worthless gear and 20 Allos... both got eaten up suprisingly fast, wished i had tried it earlier...

You'd be surprised. Give GAMMA broodmother a try. 18 Rex, 1 yuty, and probably won't even need a daeodon. 20 dinos total can enter. We wwwaaayyyy over prepared our first time. Bred up 272 born Rex lines, and broodmother gamma melted so fast it was hilarious. We then went in with 2 260 bred/imprinted megatherium and a yuty and killed her. Gamma is pretty easy. Alpha on the other hand, there were some battle scarred Rex afterwards.

I will say invest in some very good saddles it will make the difference.

Edit, I just caught that ragnarok part. Ragnarok is a bit different, and tougher. Rex will definitely work but Theriz may be better with veggie cakes. Take a daeodon and have someone imprint the yuty for the buff. Everyone wear gas mask. Trying to not spoil it as much as possible XD. We used our Rex to do beta (medium) and had 1-2 casualties our Rex stats are about 34k hp and 700% melee.

If you dont want to spoil knowledge about what to expect with the boss fights, at least read up on guides for breeding very strong dinos and how mutations work in those regards. That will help you considerably. But just understand that the less you know about what you'll encounter, the much higher the chances you will be having to collect all the mats and fight over and over and that may become disheartening/discouraging given the efforts needed for collecting those boss items.

Ok, so I just peaked at the wiki, it said you lost the stuff you summon with and tames, does that mean you keep whatever is on your person when you die?

You lose everything you go with if you die and no one else picks it up.
