Its an issue on your server if that matters. Ive never seen that happened and its first time Ive heard of such of thing.

Umm, if you go off the assumption that they will die at a certain depth all the time and get lucky that it doesn't then you should just be happy it didn't and always use the Basi with the understanding you go to deep it will take damage and die eventually, even if it does not always happen.
On the list of bugs in ARK that need to be fixed, this is a very minor one, WildCard is know for ignoring bugs that have existed since Early Access started. I highly doubt this minor bug will get addressed, but i guess you can hope for it.
