What's the best hosting service? Please, no BS!
I've been using Arkservers.io to host my cluster for a full year now. We're at our wits end as their customer service is absolutely horrible. We don't get holiday events, it takes sometimes a week or longer to get a response or a bit of help starting up a stuck server or moving to stable hardware and it's just too much at this point.

What's a hosting service that offers comparable prices $16-20 per/mo per server, that has sufficient ram to keep a cluster running smooth? We see peaks of 40-50 people for the entire cluster of 4 servers. Usually one server won't exceed 30 people.

Which hosts can be really trusted? I've got my eye on Survival Servers but I'm unsure. Their site says $40 bucks a month but their coupon says $17 a month. How can they afford to give out a coupon like that that basically lasts forever?

Anyways, any opinions would help a ton

i use streamline servers ... $17.50us/mnth for 30 slots very fast boot times just on the normal package. Have never had an issue with them that wasnt resolved very quickly (24/7 support).

my 2 bobs worth :)

An unmanaged server is best. You can use ASM or other and cluster however you want.

we use Host Havoc. 30 slot for $15/mo.

Their customer service is nice, and always answers pretty quickly if we need help.

Gaming servers may be convenient, but in my opinion they are just expensive as hell.
I'm currently paying 38 bucks / month for a root server and manage my Ark clusters myself. 7 servers (20 slots each) running smoothly on this machine, backup intervals to my taste and if I want something special (like a clusterwide chat system) I can implement that.

But it has quite a steep learning curve to it if you never had your fingers in really managing a server.

we left them for the sole reason that they share .ini files in a cluster... so if you want your clusters to have different mods/rates HH wont work for that. unless they have changed how they set up clusters since then ....

Survival servers is what I use now. The config settings in the control panel are next level in depth, the service has been great & the server is lag free.

we dont have a cluster(yet) just our single server. Not sure if we're going to go clustered in the future or not.

Thanks for the tip Ves

It seems to me that Host Havoc and Survival Servers, as well as Craft and Survive are regarded as good choices. I have no idea what I'll go with as between my 5 servers my cluster uses like 30 GB of RAM with mods. Ragnarok, CKF and eco mods = RIP

You might want to price shop root servers or I called them unmanaged servers.

I think I understand, so basically renting a machine and doing it all myself? Think that's cheaper and if it is can you recommend any sites?

Basically it means you rent a whole physical server. Run Ark however you want. ASM isn't hard to learn.

The alternative is the virtual servers, all those hosting places.

Ah, I see. I'm looking at one site now just to get an idea of this stuff but this site offers for instance, an Xeon Processor and 4GB of ram. As I understand it my Ragnarok server uses 10GB of ram due to the map being big and the mods we use. I'll do a bit of digging to see if there's one that offers a lot of ram since it would be a rather big cluster.

Hey Kitsune. I've been looking into these dedicated servers for the past few hours and found some decent deals. The site you linked is also pretty good. Is it fairly straight forward to set one of these up? I know I'd have to learn the ins and outs of ASM, but I mean access to the hardware and moving files like ARK's file to it remotely, is that a difficult process?
