Argentavis is much better than a Griffin!

It has much more stamina. The stamina from a Griffin goes low much faster compared. You can carry way more on an Argi. And even when it comes to fighting an Argentavis has way better attacks. It can pick up medium size dinos and do alot of attacks against them while flying around with them and not losing too much stamia. The only attack a griffin can really do is the left click attack and thats it. It's not even stronger compared to the left click attack of an Argie. The only upside of the griffin is that its much faster and epic to fly with and that you can shot from it by yourself.

I don't understand the point of this thread.

The Argentavis excels at certain things, the griffin excels at others. You said as much yourself. It's entirely situational.

If you ask me, beeing able to shoot from a flyer is pretty damn usefull. But if I had to choose I would probably take the Argentavis as well.

have you tryed dive bombing with the gryphon? it does 10x the damage as just a normal left click attack

i made this thread because everyone was saying griffin is so much stronger than argentavis and argentavis is only good to farm stuff and store. but actually i think argentavis is better at storage use and fighting soo yeah... dont know why people hype griffin

ok how can you make a post about a beast you dont even know its skills with? dive bombing on a gryphon is basicly a swoop attack you start off in the air above the target and dive down at them hitting your attack button when you are close to them and pulling back up befor you hit the ground

i know this attack but it takes like 10-15 sek to do each time u want to make it. thats like 10 times the left click attack of an argie and you loose way more stamina by doing this attack so its not worth compared

On the other hand, using this attack allows you to deal hefty damage all at once, and quickly pull up again and use your remaining speed to fly off, avoiding damage, and either do so again or rest and regain stamina.

I still much rather the griffin. Being able to shoot from it makes it stand out from the other fliers, and is probably the fastest flyer in the game with divebombing.

Griffin used to be insanely strong, stronger than the Argentavis, until it got nerfed somewhat recently (Last handful of months). That was also before the Argentavis got its TLC, so yes, up until then, the Griffin was better for everything except for carrying dinos. It was nerfed specifically because it was so strong.

Even with the nerf to the griffin and the buff to the Argent, the griffin still performs best at its own niche roles, which has been true ever since it was implemented. It is the fastest flyer with the dive, it can carry a passenger, both are capable of shooting from its back, and it can strafe/back up midflight like the Tapejara. The speed and utility it offers is different than that of the Argent.

It comes down to personal preference and what task you are performing. But if you want to know why people 'hype it up' so much, it's because the Griffin was, for all intents and purposes, OP as all hell, and is still many people's favorite dino to fly even after it got such big nerfs.

Even if we disregard things like utility and usefulness, being able to nosedive to the ground, pull up at just the last moment and then use that momentum to sail even higher will remain one of my favorite things to do in Ark. They could make the Argent a mega dino with its stats and weight reduction, but it still wouldn't be as *fun* as the Griffin is. When you're playing a game, that reason alone should be enough to understand its value.
