Island - snow cave updated how to
So I was searching some videos on youtube but I could not find anything. They all refer to old versions without purlovias. I would like a strategy that can be used on PvE server, so without building in the cave. Running if with force seems to require a huge ammount of ammo (wiki says take 100 bullets for shotgun, I think you need 1000+). grappling hooks only also looks hard, as just 1 mistake you are dead. Breedig in the cave does not seem an option as well, as in single player with difficulty 0.2 the max wild dino level is 34, with perfect taming you can get a 50 level dino and by breeding with a lot of luck maybe a level 70 dino...but dino in cave are 150+ and there are A LOT! I don't see a way out I have completed all other caves but this one seems damn hard, at least in single player without cheats

Id say tons of grappling hooks and multiple sets of armour.
Also fria curry, focal chili, tons of healing potions and some ammo to lure animals away from choke points.
I say: be fast and clever, ignore the monsters!

I would suggest lots of prachutes and grapples, along with the fria curries and health potions available to you. In my experience if a purlovia happens to jump out at you while ur grappling it interupts the grapple so if u parachute while grappling, the purlovia hitting you will keep you moving forward cause of the open chute, but u wont b able to do anything while floating. You have to hope the effect wears off b4 u land or get to close to the other monsters. I could be wrong but I recently did the cave a week ago and purlovias interupting grapples was a thing. Other than that just try and run through without getting hit by purlovias, I was able, by luck, to dodge one purlovia while running through to recover my dead body but I wouldnt count on doing that consistently with how many purlovias are in there.

I did this cave before... with bats. It was hard but doable.

I tried this cave recently and it was ridiculous hard. Stupid purlovias flying litterally out of the walls and pulling you off your grapple. If you are trying to solo this cave on single player.... just use cheat codes. It's not a solo cave anymore in my opinion.... unless you really enjoy the frustration of repeated body recoveries.

I don't think this works at all. Purlovias are like flying. it doesn't matter if you are very good and fast and never get too close to the floor. They will jump from the bottom to the cave up to where you are, WHEREEVER you are, and pull you off. leaving you stunned maybe in a room FULL of yetis. I think diemex is right...

You cannot parachute. You are stunned for an incredebly long time. You fall.

I did it with bredding 2 good thyla inside the cave with good saddle ( 80 mini) . For purlovia, take hand grenades and throw them when you see them inside the ground, when they are outside they dont dismount you. Kill the purlovias and other dinos with thyla's. The first time, you will not go too far because thyla are new and dont have a lot of health, kill the first dino and regen your thyla and put a lot of points in health and aftr in melle dmg.

Dimorphadons are your best friend in caves. Tame or breed a bunch of high level ones and just let them swarm and kill off the wildlife.

OK I think I have found a way to do this. It required me 55 grapping hooks (so need to have 80-90 at least in solo), 200 advanced sniper ammo, 300 shotgun ammo with 220% (mastercraft or ascendant) sniper rifle and shotgun. Of course the usual soup and medial brews. High quaility metal armor and then fur armor once go more deep in cave. The way to go is: go up with jook ABOVE you. This way you are sure no purlovia will throw you down. From up there, you can have a look and identify where the hidden purlovia are, as you said. Then you start shooting once anything you see with sniper rifle. They'll come to you, and then all you need to do is kill them all with shotgun (go lower but not too low to be a target). For wolves and yetis, also try to go for hardshots, as they do more damage. Polar bear and purlovia don't have headshot multiplier so doesn't matter. Once the room/corridor is cleared from everything but hiden purlovias, you can with them one by one. I tried shooting them while hidden, but does not work. I will try granades next time. For now my tatic was just to be hanged to the gripping hook, release a lot the rope, start running not towards the purlovia, but nearly parallel, is a way that if he jumps straight we won't hit me because I'll have moved more forward. Once they jump and miss you, pull the rope, go up and kill them as usual. If they hit you while you go up is not a problem, only the first hit once they jump from hidden can stun you. Now this was effective something like 70% of the times in single player. 30% I failed and they stunned me, but the high quality armor and the fact they were alone make me survive. Online I dunno if it would work, as server lag may influence this. Anyway, I was playing also with the weight quite increased, to account for the fact that I think you should be in at least 3-4 players normally to do this cave (actually, with more players one can find some smarter ways to do the cave, liuke using one player for suicide runs....). If anybody wants I can try to make a video next time I do it.

Oh, I forgot to add: I used 200 durability from both rifles. SO if you have lower quality one, not only you'll need up to double ammo, but also several rifles as they''l break along the way.

Step 1: Change your difficulty setting to max with the override. The hard caves are tuned for 150 dinos, so you will have issues.

Step 2: Clear the initial room. You can do that with compound bows, shotguns, etc. fairly easily.

Step 3: Hatch a Rex in there. Raise it, and build a little enclosure for it with either a bed for you to spawn into the cave (don't forget fur armor in a box in there, you spawn naked), or build a full on Tek Teleporter to just move creatures in and out of the cave as you please. It's a pretty good place to farm crystal.

Step 4: Your Rex will now shred the cave. Profit.

The reason why I didn't try this is that I read that the rexes will disappear after you leave the cave. I don't want to do this every single time. Ifg they'd stay this strategy would be better of course
