Then again I have vsync off as I found it not that greatly implemented with ark, how ever turning it on or even setting it to on via your gpu control panel for ark would cap it at your refresh rate and stop your gpu working harder than it needs to in the menu screen.
t.maxfps 30(or whatever you want your FPS to be at.)
Will greatly reduce the work load of your GPU
