Taming an itch....dolphin
Is there a trick someone can share? Guide after guide states that they are just so easy to tame! Bull. I get 2-3 peices of food into one and they zip off into the deep sea and never return. I only managed to tame ONE and that wasa fluke as it got stuck on the beach near one of our bases without dying.
I find if you chase them they swim further away, if you don't..they will hover out of your ream forever. I have nothing fast enough in water to catch them.

Never had any problems with them not returning. However one thing you could do is build a wall around them to prevent them from swiming far away.

nope. they flat out do not stay. No matter what I do. I even stayed and drowned myself just because I read they will try to push you up if you run out of stam or breath....false btw. Then again...maybe it's true but it just isn't working for me for some reason.

I am currently swimming in an area with 5 of them and none of them move toward me at all. But the Megalodon aggros from a mile away....so I guess it isn't that I'm just an op stealth god or something....

Build a 2 wide by 2 high by 3 long wooden box that sits just below the surface. Put a wooden gate on each end and basically a nearby itchy should follow you for about 20 seconds into your wooden box. Close the door, or if you use S+, have it auto close.

After about 20 seconds, they will run from you... and no longer follow you... regardless of whether you fed them or not.

I build my box in an area that has a regular spawn... sooner or later one will follow you in and you'll trap it there to tame at your leisure. Also serves as a safe area for your ichy later on.

I even tried to use a rare flower to entice them to attack me so I could at LEAST get them into a walled off area...but no. they do not respond at all to anything.

These guys do tend to run off after getting food, but they will chase you until you feed, so lure them into a small pen.

Look up ways to build under rafts, you can make a mobile underwater pen to search for them with so you don't have to swim far.

You might have success following them with flippers and a scuba tank, but short of that a pen is def. recommended.

Oh and pretty sure the save you from drowning thing was never implemented, like a lot of stuff WC teased.

what do you have? ichthys are attracted to water tames, especially megalodons. no need to be fast when they're coming to you.

Bary is a great hybrid tame to get started in the water.

ugh....A friend came and helped me lure one into the pen. Clearly it's an issue with my own character somehow they will not follow.

I took it out with a saddle and got killed by an eel and about 6 megalodons....I give up, will just stick to land. Idk how to even begin with this ocean stuff..

Start with a bary. Helps with manta around the basilo.

can you drop a tent on top of it if it follows you close to shore? It works for other dinos.

there is no reason anymore for taming a itchy after the big speed nerf. Sure its still faster as a megalodon but not much anymore and the megalodon have much more HP and damage. Itchy is just for fashion now in my opinion......

but if you rly wanna tame one build a small pen underwater near the coast with stone, kite the itchy inside, close the door of your large stone gate and you can easy tame the itchy..

Hello.

Make raft
Build underwater pen on raft
Go at sea
Find itchy
Lure in pen
Tame it as it hopelessly tries to flee

you sure? I put pure speed into mine since their stam recovers so fast and they fly across the map in no time.

I HAD one and even used it to lure a pleasesor into a cave and tame it....aaaaand now both are dead because of %()@I*_)*!_*!_I!@_ OP jellyfish sneaking up on me during combat.....

seriously why are jellyfish so damn OP? Nothing should be able to perma stun.
Rincewind May 24, 2018 @ 2:49am
Jellys are death traps in the water for sure. but 1-2 bolts from crossbow and every jelly is dead. :)
Best is to get a basilosaurus, more or less easy to get, huge HP, nice dmg buuuuuuuuut... they can´t dive deep in the water ... :/
