Doesn't make a difference, as long as they don't run out of food after you put some in.

You'll get the same result either way effectiveness wise. Putting food in when it's ready means you can retranq if it gets hit so you don't lose bonus levels. If you're doing a tame that requires a large amount of mutton or whatever you're feeding if you choose to starve it, make sure that you can get enough to finish it one go, else you'll lose taming effectiveness and the progress will drop while there's no food in its inventory.

If you are in a dangerous area, stave taming works better since the amount of time 'eating' is less. You have to worry about attacks that would lower efficiency. But the overall tame time really dosent change.

For example, you knock out a carnivore. Let it starve while you go get prime meat. For longer and more important tames, you might also want to wall them in. Spike wall are good too.

It depends what type of server you are playing.

If you are playing SP, non dedi or your own dedicated server you are always better off putting food in at the start, leaving the area and not coming back until tame finishes. If you leave and then come back to add food you risk respawns in the area which could hit your tame.

If playing on an MP server, best to wait in case something hits / kills your tame.
Starve taming takes the same amout of time as if you were not to starve tame a dino. the only difference is if you starve tame a dino you loose taming efficency and wont get as many levels. to tame faster use the best possible food that it likes. starve taming doesnt make a difference in time just how many levels you get.

Absolute rubbish.

It is the same amount of levels if you starve to the point that it will eat all food at once.

Efficiency is based only on food and any damage done.

This is correct. Starve taming has no impact to taming effectiveness. It's smarter to starve tame if possible as you don't lose anything if you have to wake up the dino and re-knock it out due to damage being taken. It won't Regen food quick enough that it will make a difference so it works well to wake them up, knock them back out, then put the food on when they are ready for it. I very, very rarely put food/kibble on a tame until it is fully starved.

people usually use starve taming in a PvP setting. that way the kibble/food is on it for the least amount of time so if someone were to come across your tame, killing it, they wont get the kibble or whatever you are using.
