Snow vs. Swamp Biome

Hey all I am looking for a dangerous place to put my base in, reason being is I am a solo player and want to give myself some pseudo defense through building up in a harsh biome, one that would make it harder to raid me, for those not prepared for the harsh climate/creatures that reside in it. This is for the map Ragnarok, thanks in advance for those who can help me out.

I would say Swamp on Ragnarok, especially if you can incorporate the dense indestructible trees and the ruins into your build.

If someone's just going up there to raid him though, the cold isn't much of a deterrant, easily negated with good fur, otters and stews or Wyvern Milk, the cave under the lake though would be a pretty good defensible location if you're able to nab it.

Not if he has turrets and other Dino's on neutral. The only advantage the swamp gives you is trees and maybe the dino that can grab you off your mount. The other stuff isn't that hard to deal with...

Both locations seen equal in it's "advantages" imo

With the indestructible swamp trees you can set up corridors of fire and effectively hide turrets, and traps and turn that whole area into a death zone and force people coming at you to use smaller dinos leaving them vunurable to Kapros and other nuisence dinos. That whole area is a maze of poor visibilty and blind alleys. Apart from the cold the snow offers nothing else in the way of natural deterrents, wolves, yutys and argents and the odd rare purlovia are all anyone's going to face, and let's face it they're most likely coming at you on Wyverns and Griffins so who cares about them. The only part of the snow biome that is worth bothering with as a stronghold would be the cave under the lake as I mentioned above.

Yeah so I have been watching some videos, and there is this nice spot in the Swamp that is a ruin, that is not taken by anyone, has a spot to put water tames ect. However I may take a look at this one area in the Snow that is not touched either, we shall see. I'm currently in the starter-base phase of the game, so right now is just starter tames and resource gathering. But thanks to everyone for their suggestions.
