I like the crossbow. Nice for land and water.

pump action shotgun.
for really far away.. longneck with scope

longneck usually is the best in most situations. Fabricated rifles if you're in a hardcore pvp situation.

Compund Bow with a bunch of points into movement speed, it's hilarious.

Longneck and Simple Pistol. Up until you get a HQ Fabricated Sniper Rifle. The sniper can fire as fast as a pistol, has 2 extra rounds in the clip, but doesnt hit quite as hard as a longneck. I personally would wait until you get a mastercraft or ascendant sniper.

Learn to use "C"(crouch) and "X"(lay prone) to steady your aim.

For what functional use? Each have their own situational and tame values really but you'll learn that the more you learn how to play.

this guy has the major point in this thread. every weapon is situational specific. for example the only time i ever use a flamethrower is in pvp. never have been able to find a good use for it outside of that situation. but the fabby sniper is the meta as long as its mc or above.

Yes but the guy primarily just wants to know about the 3 mentioned above n not the flamey :P.

Dave just needs to experience the game more is all. Survival games are especially experiential learning centric of course.

Might as well use DP's Tranq rifle mod which drops anything tranqable, works under water and also drops hunger values for fast taming. :P

But dave hasnt really gotten to learning how mod centric ark is :P

It's more of that I feel like deviating from default settings is cheating.

If you are playing single player.... default settings are mind numbingly irritating lol. Especialy building.

I'm aware. Which makes me really wonder why it's been ignored... like there's a single player setting, but that barely does anything? I'm using a stack mod and upgrade station. Stack mod because i find inventory management to be disgustingly annoying, and an upgrade station because a full tribe would have a stockpile of high quality blueprints- so it works really well in SP but would be very OP in multiplayer.
