Give Us A Sale
Was hoping for a spring sale. I would have bought the game earlier when it was $30, but I didn't have the right machine to run it.

In the end, I'm not paying $60 for any game no matter how many potential hours I could get from it. I remember the days when the expensive games were $24.99. That was always a reasonable price. That price should have stuck. Even The Forest will only be $20 when fully released.

I was about to buy this game last night since my computer can run it now, and I already played it on the xbox over a year ago. Then I remembered they doubled the price despite it being out for years. No way I'm paying double for an old game. Are they actually making money from that stunt?

People will drop 20 bucks on a 2 hour visit to the cinema... but 60 bucks for thousands of hours is out of the question. I just don't know man.... just don't know.

Expensive games were never 25 bucks either... even NES/SNES/Sega cartridges were 50-60 bucks on retail shelves back in the 80s and 90s. I got ARK on day one so I was lucky to get it on sale for like 12 bucks. But knowing what I know now, Id pay 100 bucks for this game if I had to. I purchased a PS4 for like 400, and I havent even put 1/4 of the time on that console as I have on ARK alone. But hey, everyone's an expert, must be fawkin nice.

Same. I'm about to turn 37. Games were $59.99.

They think because Company X sells a game for twenty bucks, that everyone has to. Games get developed behind the scenes for years, and release for sixty bucks. They get to watch Ark develop, and even play it during that time, and now that the hype has worn off, they don't feel it's worth sixty bucks. Yes, it's pathetic.

Same here. Think of the amount of money saved by not blowing it on eating out, movies, etc... You could drop a couple hundred bucks on Ark, and literally save thousands due to the amount of hours it will give you.

They didn't "double the price". It's always been on sale, and now the sale has ended. There's plenty of people playing this game, and it's the only one of it's kind, so it won't be going anywhere anytime soon. You won't be missed...

Its nice to see my generation of gamer pop up!! I remember renting games!!.
Im.not sure what the big deal with ark is. I have a library full of 80+ $ games. Ark has caught the imagination of now 3 or 4 generations of gamers. I have ark friends on there 60s and retired. Also tribes of 10y olds on the map. I suggested they name there tribe "little lamplite" they did kot get it..😒

@Ghost - That post made me smile inside. And this game is not an old game by any means, if anything this is tomorrow's game, that happened to come out yesterday. ARK is ambitious and imo ahead of its time. Ive seen games evolve from a Commodore 64 to this. Early access players got the game cheaper, because they were playing a vastly incomplete title. Back in my day, you were lucky to see a few interviews and screenshots of a title prior to release. Didnt have demos or tryouts, you paid 5 bucks to rent the game for 3 days if you wanted to know what the game was like before playing. Now you can hop on Twitch or the Tube and know exactly what you are getting into before you spend the money. You just don't know whatcha got till its gone... tellin ya.

Its not exactly old, its been out for early acess for two years, and has really only just barely been offically released. Yes they are making money off of it. People buy it, and people enjoy it. Keep in mind that not only will it give you 1000+ hours of enjoyment, they also heavily support mods. Each mod out there is like a free DLC pal, each mod, you can download for free. Out there, there are thousands of mods, and there is content in each mod that SOMEONE will like. So your paying 60 bucks for thousands of hours of enjoyment, plus a bunch of content that is free. If you look hard enough, there is a mod for everyones interests out there practically. Jurassic Park mods if your in to Jurassic Park, Dragon mods if you want to tame a dragon, building mods if you want cool buildings, Dinosaur mods if you want more cool dinos, Starwars mods if you like Starwars, those naturalist mods if you are like- well lets not go into that one. Point is, there is a mod out there that meets someones wants.

I think ARK is worth $60 if you ask me.

PS - Comparing ARK to The Forest is just bad form. Forest was developed by like a team of 4-5 friends at a very slow pace. This game was developed by a much larger team, and even outsourced for some aspects. We are talking 2 completely different qualities of game, and 2 completely different production paths.

Put it this way.... would you walk into a steakhouse and be like "Well I got a Hamburger at McDonalds for 2 dollars.... why is yours 12 dollars?" Please marinade on that for a while.

Anyway, only thing you can do is keep an eye out for the summer sale, you should be able to get the season pass bundle for around $30.

$30 for the game and the dlc's? .. I could do all 3 copies I need to get at that cost .. yes please lol.

Yep, its their "explorer's edition". Word to the wise though, come to think of it that isn't ncessarily the cheapest way to get them. Steam gives dicsounts on bundles for stuff you already own. For me it was actually cheaper to Scortched Earth separately, it was only $8 as apposed to $10 each with the season pass (already owned Ark). The way Steam discounts work though, it ended up being only $15 and some change for the season pass.

Well I distinctly remember games during the Gamecube/PS2/Xbox era being mostly $40, at least until the tail end. I've seen people qoute $50, but I suspect that may have been late and cross-generation releases as the industry reconditioned the industry for the $60 price-point.

That said, you're right, up until the N64/PS1 days games have been $60-$70, or even as much as $90 in some cases.
