Any mods for the old ARK dossier system?

For those who don't want to read a wall of ranty text: Are there any mods that change the dossier system back to the old version, where you get dossiers by taming dinos?

Alright so despite its flaws I love ARK and have put a decent amount of time into it (mostly into single player), however there was an update a while ago that kind of ruined the game for me and has made it difficult to play the game as much as I used to. It was the update that ruined the dossier system by changing it from a tame based system to an exploration system.

I loved being excited at the prospect of taming a new dinosaur to figure more stuff out about it and creating a 'collection' of dossiers through methods directly related to gameplay. It didn't make much sense to get a ton of information on dinosaurs (Matrix style) through taming them but, quoting Zero Punctuation, 'it makes sense from a mechanical perspective'. It was like the Pokedex system, you didn't go hunting down different kinds of Pokemon for the sake of just having them, it was to collect them and their little info cards.
When they removed this system I was mostly just confused, but the more I played without the system the more I realised that I just wasn't having the same amount as fun as before, there was no reason to explore in a proper, organic way, instead you just had to comb every bloody section of forest, mountain or ocean floor in the hopes of finding a little annoying box. I kind of liked this method with the addition of the explorer notes and stuff (though I would have liked if the boxes had a bit of loot in them or something) but I would go back to the old version in a heartbeat even if it meant removing the boxes from the game.

It seems like the developers aren't really planning on changing it back anytime soon, or doing anything to fix the matter, so I have to resort to mods. Are there any mods that change it back to the old system, preferably while keeping the game the same? I wouldn't mind the boxes staying with the explorer notes and stuff but as long as I'm not getting dossiers from them anymore and am instead getting them the old way I don't mind.

Totally aggree, although the Dino-Dossiers "might" reduce a bit of unused quest-tamed Dinos,
it was for sure more fun to even tame "unneeded" stuff.
A Mix of both might be nice too.

The old system was fun in a pokemon "gotta catch 'em all" kind of way.. The new system is ♥♥♥♥. Still no mods to bring it back to the old system?

It would be nice to be able to collect the dossiers via taming, I agree.

However, I do like how finding them now gives you and the dinosaur you are riding gives you an XP boost.

But yeah, I would like a mod that re-adds the old dossier system but leaves the explorer notes so I can still get the XP boosts.

I don't get the people who say that the new system makes sense

Isn't the illusion supposed to be that when you tame a dino you get to know/study them and their physical features
Which in turn help you find out how they've evolved to do certain things better than others

Now, like actually right now. I tamed a few dinos I've never seen b4 (been gone awhile)
But have no idea what they can do and have to google their abilities
How does this make more sense??

e.g. I tamed a Lystro and have no idea what the difference between its left click and right click are, they both just farm everything around him

But they should of really just added it in ADDITION to the system they already had

Like the Parasaur it can detect threats (right-click), you learn that from the info the dossier you get/make from taming them and studying its physical features and its behavior

Now if you find the explorer notes of it, you would learn/unlock that it can use its high frequency noise to scare other dinos smaller than them (CTRL button on my setup)


I made the last part up so that it would make sense, still haven't seen Parasaur dossier since I bought the game

It could just be yelling at the top of it's lungs in hopes of scaring whatever is in front of him away for all I know
