Behemoth Gate placement?
I'm trying to place a behemoth gate. It just wont snap. I'm new to the game so I just don't know anything. I've tried searching to no avail. My regular stone gate worked just fine on placement. It's foundation is a stone fence foundation, 2 wide if I remember correctly. The behemoth gate is much much wider. I've cleared enough space and have stone fence foundations laid, but it wont snap... Is there a behemoth stone fence foundation?!? lol umm... is there?

Or does it require a perfectly flat line of regular stone fence foundations to work? If that is the case, how do we level an area?

I'm playing single player. (Not into multiplayer gaming.)

Any constructive help would be appreciated.

easiest way i can think of off the top of my head would be use a row of stone foundations... ive personally found that fence foundation is a pain in the ass ;o)

They will snap to fence foundations, they can be fiddly to align though, best tip is to stand near the foundations look straight down and enter “k” mode (press k key) and zoom right out, this will let you move around and see where it is trying to place

Thank you both. I tried using k mode(oribtal camera?) but it still wont snap... I've got about 2 sections of stone fence foundation extra(wider than gate). So I've been trying to shimmy left and right and forward and back. But no joy. Do the fence foundations need to be 2 wide(thick)? From k mode the behe gate looks about twice as wide and a fence foundation.

I may try the regular stone foundation....

Something else to keep in mind is that you do not need to use fence foundations nor snape them as they can be aligned freehand, so to speak. In that same vein of thinking remember that if you put such a gate on fence foundations and for some reason that fence foundation is demolished, the entire behemoth gate will demolish too(unless on a server with s+ modded content and settings that allow no support reqs so that things can float).

@retsam1, what do you mean I dont need a foundation and I can align them freehand? If I just try to place the behe gate on 'dirt' it remains red and I can't click.

I'm confused. lol
Could please explain in more detail?

Gates do not require foundations(reg or fence foundations) and it doesnt matter if behemoth or just reg gates either. (This is why it is very popular to use gates as wall parameter fences).

If you're trying to place such on the bare ground and getting a red outline, read the message for what its saying as to -why- you cant.

If it says its due to being too close to an enemy foundation or such it means you're encroaching on someone else's claimed territory and you cannot build there.

Also it can be red if you are out of placement range(and there will be a message to that effect).

If it says its obstructed, its because either another structure, stone, tree, cliff, etc are in the way.

If its not red, but green but clicking and getting the placement animation yields nothing, you're attempting to build in a server restricted location(beacon drop, ruins, survivor note node, important resource protected area, etc etc).

also, you said you have put 2 extra foundations, making 4, whereas i think its 7 needed for a behemoth

you could also try adding the following to your game ini.....

bDisableStructurePlacementCollision=True

Technically he doesnt need 7 total to place though if snapping to fence foundations.

@retsam1...yeah, sorry.....i was thinking about foundations rather than fence foundations

I simply meeant that the spot I'm trying to put the behe gate is 2 foundation fences wider than it appears to require. For appearances I'm going by the orbital camera mode and eyeballing it. I think it's like 7 foundations wide.

The message it's giving me for not being 'green' is no snap points. It's the same on my fence foundations or off of it. I've tried walking around outside my fence 'wiggling' it back and forth and it never turns green.

try place the gate first then make ur wall off of that
Truthowl Mar 3, 2018 @ 6:08am
I can't. It says 'No Snap Point' and stays red.

really i thoughtu could place the newhere like the people who use them for walls

It might be a bug then. Could someone else try and see if they can place a gate freestanding? You dont actually have to place it just let me know if it turns green or not.
