Rollrat passively harvesting wood

Hi, tamed a rollrat on abberation and found out that it is great for harvesting wood. However, im too low a level to be able to get the saddle engram, so i was wondering, is there any way to make the roll rat passively farm for wood. I put enable wondering on and it gets lots of berries but it seems to ignore trees. Any advice?

Nope. You need the saddle.

If it passive gathers, sit it in front of a tree. After a bit, it'll gather itm if not. It can't
