its not supposed to pick up eggs idk who told you that but thats a false information. if you set an oviraptor wandering its giving an egg buff -> your tamed dinos lay more often eggs
As far as i know, tamed oviraptors dont steal eggs, they just boost the "egg laying" interval of your dinos.

The Oviraptor can also be used to steal eggs from wild or enemy creatures. Whistling 'attack my target' on an egg will cause the Oviraptor to pick it up and bring it back to you. Remember to be wary of the egg's weight and the fact that using this action may cause the egg's parents to become aggressive.

From the ark oviraptor wiki page: https://ark.gamepedia.com/Oviraptor#Utility

They do steal eggs ^-^

No it's not. They do. But... you need to tell it to do so, it's not a passive collector.

ie: Attack my target :steamhappy:
See this guy knows

its not an passive abillity so its completely useless as you can pick up the egg by yourself instead of whistle the ovi to do so

More often than not, the ovi doesn't proc the aggression of dino's when it gathers. So it can be used to avoid that negative effect, if you are so inclined.

I hope that oviraptor gets hit by the tlc pass. It'd be nice if they gave it a massive weight reduction when it carries eggs and pick up eggs while wandering. That way it'd be the egg farmer that officials need.

Using ovi to steal a wild egg is better than doing it by hand,as it doesnt anger the dino that made the egg

I haven't tried it on wyvern eggs. I wonder if they can make off with them. XD

Be careful, it can.

tbh, Alex is theoretically "incorrect" but in practice is 100% correct. What you have for wild collection is as good as useless. It really is easier to steal and run yourself. :)
Even with a giga egg ?,giga has a very large AOE,so you probably can run away from it,unless you have a flying mount for a getaway...

Also another question, does mate boosting two ovi's help dinos hatch eggs better ?

mate boosting stacks with oviraptor buff. Not between to oviratpors tho, between the tames being boosted.
