Baby Gacha starved to death :(
I tried to make baby gacha but they starved to death 2 times !
First one was on wandering close to a lot of stone
Second one was feed by me with flint but died too... Their life is like a yoyo up and down so fast and they only eat when 0 food...
Any tip?

It is recommended to use Meat or Cooked Meat. Stone also feeds them, but at a much slower rate than Meat.

So feed them Meat until they get out of the baby stage

You dont need parents near them nor do you need to feed them anything. Toss them in the corner and stay in render range and they will feed themselves.

Ignore that, you obviously need to feed them. They start with very low food, so stick as much raw meat or cooked meat as you can on them when in "baby" stage. (I use raw meat and it works fine)

If you are using the S+ Nanny, open the option wheel and change the feeding amount to 50 instead of the default 10. (at 10, mine were dying as they weren't getting enough food)

Seems you have not raised gachas before. They do not need to be fed anything, period. They sit in the corner eating thin air. I have raised dozens of gachas this way.

What are your settings at because on any server I've played in Gachas have needed extra tlc
Our tribe used raw meat and kept a close eye on them because sometimes they wouldn't eat and we would have to force feed them until they started eating again (which might be a separate issue, but nonetheless)

Ive been on a few servers with pretty vanilla settings, all the gacha ive raised havent had to be fed as long as ive been in render, as soon as you leave render theyre goners.

Official servers, Actually having food in baby gacha inventory will be worse than nothing at all. Eating from thin air does not work if there is something in their inventory.

Actually I've raised *tons* of Gatchas. My experience is like Dragon33657's. If i don't make a special effort to overload them with meat, they starve out and die every single time. I breed dinos extensively, it is part of the game that I like a lot. I don't play official though, my experience is in both SP and with running a private ASM server.

Should not be different for the single player. If i stuff gachas with meat they will go trough it in seconds and starve. When they dont have anything in inventory they happily grow in the corner.

Well I am not afraid to admit when I am wrong:
But at least when playing via ASM (which gives official server behavior versus single player behavior) you are totally right. If i keep the baby gatcha away from the S+ nanny and outside of feeding trough range, essentially never putting food in its inventory at all, it fed itself on nothing. Not set to wander either, just sat there eating food i never gave it and not dying. I sped up time and watched it pass through the baby and juvenile stages, which were the ones you really had to watch it on. I even took it outside of my tek generator range, so it wasn't within range of anything I owned whatsoever, just sat there happily eating air.

It is obviously a bug WC never cared to fix. But hey, it does work. Funny how it is the PVE/PVP users find out about these quirks and bugs while the solo players just sail along ignorantly of these quirky strats and bugs.

Ahhh, you were using S+.
S+ nanny has issues with feeding babies and the babies eating more than they should. Unless its fixed by now.
So that could be the culprit.

Apologies for the necro, but I'm wondering if they patched this 'eat thin air' thing.
I read on the wiki all about staying in render range, OR using the S+ hitching post. I set up a 4x4 room well away from my base; I checked range on my feeding troughs & was at least double the distance that they could reach.
Set baby gacha in room with no food, & no other tames. Hitched to post. Went away... & got message that baby starved to death. :(

Since you're using s+ why didnt you use the nanny as well?

Have you altered hunger stats in settings in any way? Have you sped up rates for maturation? etc etc?
Kavan Longfellow Jul 4, 2022 @ 8:55pm
I didn't use the nanny because I had read about the 'no food' method. Why spend food if I don't have to.
I now have another one raising. Do NOT try the nanny! The thing is drinking meat like it's been lost in the desert & found a soda shop that had its favorite flavor of milk shake! Worse than desmodus without blood bags!
Currently standing beside the thing monitoring as it eats air & I sweat through every percent of age gain. This is going to be a LONG task. :/
