So No Reward For Killing The DodoRex...?

It was a hell of a fight, I feel ripped off that I didn't get anything for it though.. Or are we not supposed to hunt it when the game announces it's arrival..?

It used to give the dodorex hat skin (according to the wiki), but that's obtainable via achievements now. There also used to be an achievement on Steam called "Dodorex Hunter," but that was removed; didn't really notice until now.

So unless it's bugged, there's no known award for killing the DodoRex as of the current version.

I wasn't aware of all that, thankyou for letting me know. This is my first halloween event in Ark. So I guess I'll leave it alone now :)

Yeah, I hope I'm wrong and it's just glitched; but if I'm not, then hopefully next year they tie an actual reward to it. I'm personally just glad they're starting to bring back the dynamic events though: it has been awhile.

Well It certainly wasn't easy and it had a crazy amount of health, but me and some of my Barys killed it..

Well this is only my 3rd, I think, event in Ark and so far I kinda like them for the most part. I was expecting "something" for killing it tho after what it took lol

Yeah, The DodoRex and DodoWyvern were a fan favorite and they brought them back due to popular demand. But they didnt attach any rewards to them. I've been playing on SE recently, doing a fresh playthrough there. I didnt play in the previous Fear Evolved events, so I wanted to check it out. I tried to take on the Dodo Wyvern with just me on a well leveled Wyvern that Ive been wrecking the Wyvern Trench with.

It wasn't pretty.

Thought i was doing well at first and then i noticed that the Dodowyvern was cycling through different elemental breath attacks. Then it tagged me midair with a poison fireball. My poison Wyvern i was riding was fine, but it one-shot me right off its back. Pretty sure i was at full health too. A little over 400 health, all gone in one poisonball.(still leveling the character) By the time i flew back, the Dodo Wyvern had despawned so i recovered my Wyvern and my items from my corpse and flew home in shame. Not sure how to solo it without a literal army of tamed wyverns, or leading it to a turret trap or something. Craziness. Even though I know there is no reward or achievement, i still wanna take it down at some point during this event. I loved seeing its face on the moon, like a Dodo-monster-bat-signal. :)

Personally I find this event quite a let down, nothing very exciting about it really...
Looking forward to the xmas one tho, hope I can beat the wyvern brigade to a few drops..

Does the DodoRex spawn in single player? I haven't seen it so far.

Dodorex only spawns on The Island map, nowhere else. Dodo Wyvern is only On Scorched Earth map. Other maps still get the orange supply drops and random scarecrows/gravestones/pumpkins popping up, but no mega-dodo boss monsters. Even on the right maps, they only show up every 3rd night.

Ah, I play on Ragnarok. So that explains why I can't find it. I did kill a bunch of skeleton creatures tho.

Mate, that sounds like a hell of a tome :)) Yeah, I don't think my Argys could take that on. Was fun killin wyverns on my 450 Argy tho, and stressful ..

Well I am in SP, on The Island atm, and is has once. There was a meteor shower and the moon was the dodorex head on it and then the bid DA DA DAAAAA The DodoRex has arrived lol...

with a swarm of 450 lvl argies, you could probably take it down just fine, like you did with your super high level barys on The Island. You seem to be running some kind of mutation and/or breeding acceleration with your games, Pantherr, since your dinos are a lot stronger in level than most and you are still pretty new to the game.(in addition to having a little bit higher than usual max wild dino level, i think you mentioned in another post.)

Dodo wyvern wasn't that bad, the problem is that in general a wyvern's poison ball attack hits the rider as well as the dino you are on. And the Dodo Rex has a stronger than usual poison ball. So you have to be doubly careful to not have your character get hit with it. My mistake was thinking i might be able to solo it with one dino, even a good wyvern. When i take it on next time, ill have to treat it more like an arena bossfight and bring a swarm of dinos to take it on. A swarm of argy's is what i was thinking as well, since you can breed them they are more easily replaced than good level Wyverns and they can be pretty tanky damage dealers.

Well my max wild dino level is set at 180, and I am just in single player. I haven't really played around with the setting much. I was advised to check out "Phlingerphoo" vids for info on the game including game settings that he uses, advises, for SP.

After that it took a LOT of breeding, and time, to get my dinos to that level. Mods helped a lot too, like the mutation kibble and mutator. Got tired of waiting and waiting for a male I needed and found out the mutator can change sex :)

The argy was fun to battle the wyverns with, and they can turn a lot faster too which makes for some fun, and stressful, dogfights lol So yeah, a team of them could probably do it but no point if there is no reward for doing it tho.. I mean not even an ingame trophy or anything..

If you have the taxidermy engrams unlocked you might be able to collect an epidermis of a Dodo Boss and make a taxidermy trophy from it like you can with regular dinos. most likely though the corpse would get pretty instantly harvested and destroyed though, by your dino army, so you wouldn't get a chance to collect one.

Would be nice if they added a trophy item to the drop, like there is for arena bosses and alpha deathworms, etc.

Yeah, i have been doing vanilla mutations through my whole ark history, so it takes me forever to get beneficial mutations. I've been meaning to get around to trying out the S+ Mutator, since i already use S+, but i fight with myself over whether using it would feel cheaty to me. (what is and isn't cheaty-feeling is different for everyone, I don't judge) Currently my really well bred dinos represent a bit of luck and a huge amount of time and work, so they feel like achievements in themselves. Because of this though, it takes me forever to "finish" a map if i start from scratch. But for me, playing solo, the journey is the fun. (I do use breeding helpers like the S+ Nanny, S+ hatchery and Dino Storage 2's "auto trap babies" features.)

I have the engrams for taxidermy but have never used it all.. As for the mutator, cheating or not after days of trying for a male with the mutation I want, but getting females with it, I gave in and changed the F to a M lol. It certainly saves a lot of time sometimes.

I use the hatchery, that's very handy, never used to nanny tho... have seen too many posts in here by people having issues with it. The dino storage is wonderful tho, makes taking dinos to Obis for boss fights so much easier.

I have no idea how to use the dino storage for breeding or babies tho, I only use it for transporting and storing dinos really..
