Which island is the best?

I generally play solo and I'm thinking about maybe getting one of the dlc maps; I've only played on the standard map so I'm woundering if I should try one of the free maps before the dlc.

The Island has the best overall map design imo.
The Center is the next best, Abberation is mediocre, then Ragnarok, then Scorched Earth.

Ragnarok is very pretty and huge and has the Scorched Earth content. By far my favorite. My only complaint is the map is dissected horizontally by an impassable "Murdersnow" region that can't be crossed without an extremely fast mount.

I'd say Ragnarok, the map absolutely huge and has scorched earth implemented in for free.

if you play solo ragnarok.

if you play multiplayer ragnarok is just too big, you will never see anyone .... its 2.5x the island, which has in my opinion the best size for multiplayer.

Depends what kind of challenge you want. Ragnarok is the easy option, resources everywhere and easy to get, all dinos on the map, high level tames everywhere. It's a nice looking map but zero challenge compared to the DLC.

I always play The Island but SE would get my vote as a good next step for the DLC if you want a challenge.

Ragnarok is the most popular because people are lazy and want things at their fingertips

between the island and ragnarok i'd say ragnarok, but i haven't played the center, scorched and aberration so... idk

If you're going to get one dlc just wait for the season pass to go on sale to pick up all of them.
SE is fun for the difficulty but I really like Aby, it's very vertical. Don't get stuck to building just on the bottom floor (of the safe zone). Otherwise rag is great.

I'm cross between The Island and Ragnarok. They're both Great.

Scorched Earth is irritating as heck to play on. While The Center is well.... beautiful, but to be honest, I hate the lay out of the map, everything is too seperate and disconnected, and sadly it hasn't been updated in a very long time which is sad face.
