Progression in Extinction Core

Im a bit baffled on how i can progress onto fighting and beating bosses ie Dragon, Manticore, Apex creatures, Chieftains ect. Im really injoying the mod it's great fun, Taming Alphas, Killing Alphas, Killing tribes is all fairly easy for the stage that im at but anything harder i get wrecked straight away. Any ideas on how i can start atleast putting up a fight against some of the harder things.

Get a Primordial. You "just" need to craft the summoning stuff in the Altar and then you'll have a nice, extremely strong mount which will help you wreck deities and stuff.

Also kill deitys with a high level dragon its not that hard.

Beware they dont take damage when they summon minions, you can notice some colored lights around when its immune to damage.

So you go there and attack as many times is possible before immunity. Dont bother killing minions, just kite the deity around. When the immunity is not present attack again, land and bite as fast as possible. Hence and repeat.

In order to do that i need to kill a deitie first. im guessing that using Ark's bosses will be best for that, but i cant seem to be able to kill them first in order to be able to tame them everytime i go near say a dragon they 1 shot me of my mount

What I did to tame dragons was get a titan, doesnt matter its level. Level it up and pump everything into hp.

Find a high level dragon and move the titan nearby. Using a fast flyer like alpha griffin get aggro and fly towards the titan. Just dodge the fireball and you'll be fine.

Dragon will aggro the titan, shoot it as fast as possible with poison arrows. With a good prime compound bow you'll need around 15 poison arrows.

It goes down, you put the saddle and its yours.

Edit: beware titan and bosses eat the easter bunny treats.

Erm, I think dantheman's problem is not obtaining a Dragon.

To be honest, when I was fighting Deities, I was on my Gorilla. And when I fought (most of the time) the fire deity, there was no unwanted unmounting. Just had to get reaaaaally close to the deity and clobber away its HP.

The actual taming a dragon part ill be fine but unless im wrong you must kill one before you can tame one. Thats the part i cant think of a way to kill a dragon first lol

I envy you, I cant find a max level gorilla to tame.

I got bokito yesterday and still cant find a gorilla.

For killing bosses: I used creatures with a reasonable HP pool (enough to survive at least 30sec of boss clobberin') and a truckload of Attack (High level Alpha Rex, Alpha Zomdodo, Alpha DodoRexy comes to mind) and get the munchies.
If your creature is low on HP -> Blood Vial, if it's high on torpor -> Detox. Best to wear also some Prime Armor already and it's not the worst idea to have 2-3 disposable fighter Creatures of yours also munching on the boss. Level up your creatures to be almost maxed out to stand a real good chance.

Oh, my Knuckles was just lvl110 or something (maximum would be 150 on my server) when I tamed him. But since I got a Bokito as well, I don't mind the wimpy Gorilla ;-)
My Dragon is also something in that area, only my Manticore was near maxed (lvl145).

Thank you, do you think a good imprinted high leveled pack of Alpha Ravengers would stand a chance against the broodmother. I think i need high level alpha wyverns for the Dragon

Im playing max lvl 600, so I wont settle with anything below 580. Since it goes from 20 to 20 levels, considering the taming levels its a huge difference from 600 to lets say 520.

Ravagers are imho no dps monsters. They are excellent mules, mobile and can also get a bit nasty, but I'd go for the usual battlecreatures. But heck, if you can find a lowlevel boss, you can kill it with almost anything ;-)
The first boss my tribemate and me killed was a low broodmother. My tribemate was on his Alpha Allo, I was on my Alpha Argy. Both were nowhere near maxlevel or imprinted (just wild tames and leveled up a bit), but aside from a slightly snory Allo we had no big problem with the mother and her brood.

You can kill dragons with a high level alpha griffin pretty easily.

First you need to practice the dive bomb attack tho, you dont need to land to get the damage. If it has their wings open and you press lmb nearby you do the damage.

Only thing that can go bad is if they hit you with the fire ball. Bites and fire breath only do damage to your mount.

So what I do, I get higher than the dragon and dive in its direction. If you get luck you can hit 2 times with the dive bomb. Then I dive down to get speed and regain altitude. When they shoot fire ball, dive down to dodge.

Edit: it needs practice but after Ive learned that I can kill most things with my griffin including primal teks.
