Harvest Amount and Player Harvesting Damage Sliders - What's the Diff?
Two slider bars in Single Player startup. "Harvest Amount" and "Player Harvesting Damage." The tooltips kinda make them sound like they affect the same thing. Can't find any clear explanation on wiki/google/forums here. Anyone know the difference between these two slider settings?

Harvest amount mean that say if you hit a tree once you get 1 wood but if you slide it to the top you get 100 wood per hit

Harvesting damage means say if you hit a tree 10 times the tree falls but if you slide it to the top it takes 1 hit to chop down a tree(but only for players)

So if Harvest Amount is set to minimum and Player Harvesting Damage is set to maximum, you hit the tree once, get one wood and the node disappears (tree falls over)?

Yeah ... basicaly harvest damage is how many times you have to hit something for the same amount of spoils. :)

In your gameuser.ini its called harvesthealth.

If you set a parameter in your game.ini, then adjust it in the slider, which one overrides the other?

There are actually separate settings for harvest health and damage.

Health affects all harvest nodes. Higher = more hits to harvest.

Harvest Damage is further split into Character and Dino. Higher damage = fewer hits to harvest.

By modifying all three of these you can adjust the value of using harvesting Dinos Vs doing it by hand.

:) Hope I didn't confuse anyone with my, not really asked for, explanation!

Edit: If the .in is read only then it should override. If not I believe the slider does.

If you set your game.ini to read only then it will take precedance.

...and if you don't make it read only, the slider overrides?

Correct... same with your gameusersettings.ini ..... if you edit these make sure you close Ark 1st or any changes wont take effect.

Also..... keep a backup of both .ini files .... either renamed or in a seperate folder.

Harvest Health is a good name, intuitive, easy to understand. Calling it Damage in the slider is a little confusing. Many of the slider names and tooltips that explain them are poorly written.

Well... its a bit of what Emi said .... damage and health are not quite the same thing.... but i figured for the purposes of this topic it would suffice.... Emi's explanation is much more accurate.

Tbh.. even knowinh what they do... ive always left damage and harvest health at vanilla default. With the harvest multiplier there is no need to change them imo
