I should mention that the server I am on runs S+, and foundations can snap/stack ontop of one another, so mildly to moderate terrain slopes don't do much.
Right now I have a starter base that's on the coast between redwoods and the highlands area. Built a 5x5 house/crafting/storage base and a 6x6 dino enclosure to build up resources at before heading to something more permanent. Once I get a Ptero/Argie I think I will start looking around, I am half tempted to wear insulated armor and live in the snow biome as no one goes there it seems.
Honestly... apart from extreme amounts of crystal, metal, and obsidian, you also are near those broken desert red drops that cycle every 30-40 minutes. There is no better area on that broken map.
There are tons of level/foundation acceptable without using mods to better clip/stack to build with. Sorry but what you're stating just isnt the case and again the map has some of the most "put a base here" spots intentially designed by the Rag makers. Also lets not forget about the multiple tree platform variations and the stalagtites and stalagmites as well they implemented all over the map to build platform bases with. Also lets not forget the tons of caves specifically intended for bases either.
Sure there are uneven terrain spots too but that doesnt alter the map again, bar none, being the most friendly map in terms of viable locations for bases.
and you are right. I was just letting others know that what might look level, might in fact have a grade in it that you wont notice until youve got half your starting foundations down.
When I built a replica version of "castle of lions" I had to pillar it to get the nice level foundation I wanted :)
Got coods for you favorite location?
