ARK: Survival Evolved
Ragnarok base location, recommendations?
First I want to point out that, I am not one of the people who you would lable, "Lazy", when it comes to searching for information on things prior to, asking. I've done research, and watched several YouTube videos on, "Best/Good Rag Base Locations". and 90% or more of them are, "Build in this cave", sort of content. While caves are amazing, and I understand the reasoning behind them being, "Best", they're just not for me. I am a soloist player, on a "Respectful/Friendly" PvP server. I can't be building in something where, when/if I get raided, the raiders are able to plow through my buildings/tames due to the x6 dmg mod. So I am asking here, on what seems to be the most active form of, "Community outreach", there is for ARK. In the hope of maybe scoring me a solid location (Coords please.) to build up in.

I have a few wants/needs for the location: (Not 100% musts.)
1. Large enough for a few buildings. (9x9 home/crafting/storage building, 15x15 dinosaur enclosure, ect.)
2. Terrain that allows land tames to travel up/down it, w/o a long trek around.
3. In decent proximety to resources. (I don't need to be stared in the face by resources, but close enough that I don't feel like it's taking me ages to land/fly there, lol.)
4. Close enough to a water area for swimming tames. (I don't see myself having anything larger than a Megladon, but a place to put them would be nice.)

Now as I said, I am on a server where people in general are, nice and respectful and as long as you don't present yourself in a way that they feel threatened and if you don't tread of them, they leave you alone. So it doesn't need to be a super secret hidden ninja base location, but not at a obalisk either, lol.

Thanks in advance to those who reply.

Between Blue Obelisk and Viking bay, coastal region of the highlands up to the edge of redwoods, South East of the swamp along the coast etc etc.

Rag is one of if not the most base building friendly maps out at the moment, imo.
if you can find a spot level enough for a big base. Raggy is deceptive like that.

it may LOOK nice and level, but its actually a really slow grade to the land. Its why I love the map so much. Cant just plop down foundatains, gotta really see how the land lays ;)

I should mention that the server I am on runs S+, and foundations can snap/stack ontop of one another, so mildly to moderate terrain slopes don't do much.

Right now I have a starter base that's on the coast between redwoods and the highlands area. Built a 5x5 house/crafting/storage base and a 6x6 dino enclosure to build up resources at before heading to something more permanent. Once I get a Ptero/Argie I think I will start looking around, I am half tempted to wear insulated armor and live in the snow biome as no one goes there it seems.
Honestly, the desert has many spots like this. Funny thing is... the desert is completely broken. Yet very few people move there; it isn't hard to survive the low heat, and there are tons of easy pearls to gather on the south coast on top of a few huge metal clusters (one of them being the best on the map by FAR... any map really) and a crystal cave that has more crystal in it than most locations on the map put together. On top of all this you have trees in the central desert that give more wood than most standard trees and there are a ton of them.

Honestly... apart from extreme amounts of crystal, metal, and obsidian, you also are near those broken desert red drops that cycle every 30-40 minutes. There is no better area on that broken map.

There are tons of level/foundation acceptable without using mods to better clip/stack to build with. Sorry but what you're stating just isnt the case and again the map has some of the most "put a base here" spots intentially designed by the Rag makers. Also lets not forget about the multiple tree platform variations and the stalagtites and stalagmites as well they implemented all over the map to build platform bases with. Also lets not forget the tons of caves specifically intended for bases either.

Sure there are uneven terrain spots too but that doesnt alter the map again, bar none, being the most friendly map in terms of viable locations for bases.

and you are right. I was just letting others know that what might look level, might in fact have a grade in it that you wont notice until youve got half your starting foundations down.

When I built a replica version of "castle of lions" I had to pillar it to get the nice level foundation I wanted :)

Got coods for you favorite location?
So far the "Pirates Cove" is my fav. Easy to close off (the hole in the ceiling may be the most difficult) with behemoth gates. Resources everywhere and a nice large bay that spawns fish where you can have your water tames. The hole in the top is great for flyers and there is one land entrance. Near the blue beacon where the therizins spawn.
