I usually only wear Leather for quick repair ability if I'm just out and about and not doing caves or PvP. I can imagine Tek Armor would only be useful in niche situations tbh.
Tek boots: used to be ok because you wouldnt get fall damage and they didnt use much element. However a glidesuit does the same Thing and flak boots are often better in Terms of durability and armor value.
Tek leggins: Are ok but they use far too much element, you cant travel vertical, bad armor and you can really just use gliding suits or dinos do get around faster and cheaper.
Tek chestpiece: Just uses too much element. Even on aberration where you can craft it ist not worth it. And given that in pvp most players aim for your chest its durability is too low.
Tek gauntlets: Just no. To Little armor to be good, and when youre that close to someone its more efficient trying to use a shotgun or bloaing him before trying to use that silly punch multiple times. The armor however deosnt really matter here because hands usually dont get hit very often.
Tek helmet:
Absolutely worth it! Highlights enemys. That thing is THE antigriefer weapon. Griefers rely on bushes and cover doing hit and run tactics. The problem is that its often hard to find them if they are on foot and hiding. With that thing it highlights them frome a very far distance and if you have a fast dino you will get them 9/10 times. Its armor is pretty weak so you should only use it if youre on a fast dino where its hard to hit you (wyvern, rock drake). Its also very element efficient. 1 element will allow you to run it for a hour straight with the scan on.
Basically yes. And except for the helmet and boots you need quite a bit of element to run it. So id just have a helmet with like 3 element in a vault in the base and if there ever are any hidden snipers/attackers you just use it, find them and reck them. If youre on pve its pretty useless.
