How to build above ground?
Hey there, I am level 39 at the moment, I suck at this game and I was saving from level 25 for a big base in front of a waterfall. I discovered this spot by myself and I wanted to build a base on it. I tried everything I can think of. I have 3 stone foundations on the ground and when the cliff stops I can't build further. I have tried putting Wooden Pillars to the bottom of the little lake the waterfall ends in but that also did not work. It was a better idea to make a first real base on the surface but yes I am stupid. Does somebody know what I am doing wrong?

try building a pillar all the way down so it will touch the ground and snap foundations to it. If you build foundations on the ground level youll be able to build ceilings that seem like theyre floating. because the there is foundation support down at the bottom. but if someone blows up the foundations on the bottom your base will also fall

I am playing singleplayer before jumping in to multiplayer but correct me if I am wrong.
I have to build pillars to the bottom of the water, at the bottom I have to snap foundations it, and build my floor with ceilings.

If you are not opposed to using Mods, Structures + is a great mode for building bases. It allows you to override the foundation limits of the base game and gives you a wider variety of options, including extra tall pillars and ramps that actually are designed to be one wall high and one wall wide so it fits perfectly wherever you are.

Hmm, didn't know that about S+. Thanks. I might check it out.
