Looking to get the cheapest graphics card that is still able to run Ark.
My friend is going through some financial problems, but he still wants to play ark. I want to find a good graphics card for below 80USD. Please help

Newegg shows a 4GB gtx 960 for $68.98, it can be used comfortably at a mix of low/medium settings 1080p

1050ti on ebay $78.80- I would probably go with the 960 from newegg though.

There is no such thing as a good graphics card for below $80.

Your friends wants are probably not going to match the reality of his situation. He will either sacrifice graphic fidelity for performance or vice versa or be extremely limited in what he can play by going the cheapest route.

I suggest he/you read this: https://www.pcgamer.com/ark-survival-evolved-is-the-new-crysis-of-pc-hardware/

If you want a card that can sorta run the game on a mix of medium and low, grab a second-hand RX 570. Mine gets 120 fps on the low preset and 50-ish on the Medium one, running at 1080p and using the resolution scaling included in both presets.

Should be able to grab a used 570 for about 80 bucks.

$150-$200 is the absolute minimum for an entry level gpu.

That's only if you're dim and don't know how to deal-hunt second-hand markets.

Didnt you stomp off to Conan because of your being so disgruntled with Ark?

Used 1050ti will be more then enough for ya, look at ebay or craigslist or that mobile one

I had a 960 before I upgraded. Ran fine , medium settings. Some high. Post processing and anti aliasing off. 40 FPS in crowded areas. 60 out in the open

It’s out dated but will do

I did, it's installing right now.

Ark can be a great game but technically it's a joke.

PS4 runs that thing at 680p, 30 fps. Let that sink in for a while.

680p. 30 fps.

Last thing you want to do is buy a second hand video card. For all you know, that card could have thousands of hours on it grinding out crypto-currency.

And how does grinding thousands of hours of crypto-currency affect it, please, do tell, this is going to be entertaining! :D

What does he have now? I ran it on a HD 6950 1GB for over a hundred hours before upgrading. Works fine. Just need to use the -sm4 setting to enable DX10.

You're absolutely right. GPU's are ultra reliable and never fail, there's no way that running them at max output for multiple thousands of hours with questionable cooling could be an issue.
