Ascension - Official or Unofficial?

Hey guys,

I just started playing again and I am wondering if it's best to join an official or unofficial server with the aim of Ascending through all maps. I was going to start on The Island and was thinking PvP because playing alone can get boring. Any advice?

I'm assuming the order is
1. The Island
2. The Centre
3. Scorched Earth
4. Ragnarok
5. Abberation
6. Extinction

Will official servers be good for that? I know it's going to take weeks and weeks but yeah, was hoping to slowly move through the servers with my dino's and character aiming for max level with some pretty powerful dino's.

What kind of steps should I be thinking?

the order is The Island, Scorched, Aberration,Extinction

the other maps are not Cannon maps.... also note that Scorched has no ascension cave.

Well if you did it on unofficial there is a chance the server will wipe before you finish doing that so be careful and also you would need to find an unofficial server with the correct setup for their cluster map wise. Official will take a lot longer but your stuff won't magically disappear. PVP there is a chance your stuff will be wiped before you get the chance to do the ascension..that is true on official and unofficial unless you do a super high rate easy unofficial.

Tons of people have had their stuff dissapear on official servers. Official is no guarantee.

If you find the right unofficial community, then worrying about the community being discontinued isn't really a thing.

True official does have stuff disappear on you with bugs and stuff and unofficial can alleviate that a bit with higher taming/gathering or what have you. I think it just depends on how long you want this to take lol.

If your decision is to make ascension extreme hard/challenging to potentially impossible(depending on your game play style and abilities, then sure go along with this plan.

As others said for ascension purposes and lore related achievements etc, you typically want to do The Island, Scorched Earth Abberation and Extinction in that order.

However, if you want to make this easy for yourself, do it in single player with admin commands and relaxed settings if your goals are to expedite the ascension for the achievements etc to unlock specific skins etc.

Otherwise, no need to pedestal or make things worse for yourself by attempting to do any of this on official servers when there are much much more unofficial servers you can find good for the same purpose(again if expeditiously doing it isnt a concern).

The rest of the maps have no relevance for ascension so you can wait to do those maps later unless you are just wishing to again make this much longer.

If you're willing to take ages, the go fo officals.
If you don't want to play until hell did freeze might try unoffical.
If you have lots of friends (or think you get lucky) go for pvp.
If you don't like to be a plaything for alpha tribes play pve.

Slightly exeraggted, but if you try it for the first time and alone it might takes you 1kh+ (w.o. getting help from settled players of getting f'ed by raids).

As side note, a few unoffical are longer there as non legacy officals.
