PSA - You CAN Stop Easter Event

Bit late, I know.

Asked on ASM forums got told it's not possible to prevent/stop Easter as it's different from other holidays (the ones with command line entries). Also was told on Steam forums the same.

This is false; Easter has a command line parameter AND you can enter -ActiveEvent=None to remove Easter, I just tested it, worked fine (after destroywilddinos).

FYI - for Single Player use Steam Properties to edit Ark's command line, for servers you own use your preferred server manager. Otherwise beg/bribe/deny love to your admin.

The sad part is, even if this is stickied or stays on the front page at all times. People will still complain and not realize they can turn it off themselves.

Why would you stop it? Do you hate colors? All it really does it make interesting colored dinos, and put dome special dodos out there.

I agree with OP. It's a load of nonsense and imho, best left for kids games. Don't care if others do want it, I do care that I have to deal with the inane Christian crap.

Yeah.. you're reading too much into it. There is absolutely nothing Christian about what is in the game. It's random bright colors on dinos and eggs you can craft into bunny ears. There are definite toggles.

Most people that celebrate Easter don't do it for religious reasons. And bunnies and eggs have nothing to do with the bible. lol

Some people prefer natural colors over mutation colors in the wild, and at the same time, they might also prefer to keep mutations more rare.

In my personal opinion, it's a cool thing to have, but I like it more when mutations via breeding are surprising rather than an event making it feel less special.

Searched Steam, Ark, and ASM forums, came up with two answers, both "can't skip." Just putting another "here's how" out there.

Also the Wiki only lists the commands to turn them on, doesn't mention that "None" can be used to actively turn them off. Pretty amateur.

At first I thought it increased the spawn rates of Oviraptors and Dodos, figured it was changing my early gameplay, which I had just happened to start on SE and Ab, was really getting into it. After I learned it merely changed existing dodos/ovis to bunny ear variety I stopped caring. I was just gonna ignore the eggs etc but then I stumbled on it while researching something else I think... Figured I'd correct the record by testing it.

Also most of the colors are hideous, though there are a few. Just really jarring to see such silly color schemes, I'd rather paint my dinos.

I agree mate, nothing in what I said, sorry.

For me, I gave up trying to turn it off after my kids threw out all my ammo and filled one of my cupboards with eggs. All I did was did was take 10 of their rabbit eared dodos and fed them to the local sharks while citing "poor server performance".

But I look at my screen NOW, I look at the date and I think it should be GONE already. I guess I could turn it off now, Easter is OVER. My kids are back at school anyway. :)
