whats the best way to farming scrap metal?

On extinction, go around the city and wreck lightposts and stuff. with a high melee dino. considering scrap metal has no weight reduction bring a dino with a fair amount of weight capacity

They are the same as metal nodes. So no not a carnivore. An Anky.

i breed tek parasaurs,i take out 100 babies,wait tham to grow,i use the s+ death gun,i kill tham,and i use one of my sabers,lv 260 atm,0 imprint,with 500% melee,it gives me a lot of resurces,my main reason is oil,i get arround 35-50 each death parasaur..i dont remember for other resurces(The Island Map)

just getting metal would be much easier.

@Ionut if you want oil there are much easier ways. just go visit ragnarok with a bird that can carry a lot, you can grab an easy 10k+oil from oil pumps.

@Ionut - For The Island, the best oil is taking an argy over to the northwest end of the map and fly over all the frozen icebergs, stopping to harvest all the oil nodes everywhere. You get more if you bring an Anky with the argy to harvest the nodes with, but even a metal pick is enough to easily get any oil you need. The icebergs have no carnivores at all, just penguins and pelagornis so there is no risk or danger.(as a bonus, the penguins are the best source of Organic Polymer on The Island too.)

For the OP - There is no reason to specifically farm for scrap metal. There aren't any recipes that require it specifically. Regular metal ingots and scrap metal ingots are used interchangeably.
But yeah, for Extinction, you use Doeds on the lamp posts if you want to farm more dust and crystal. Ankys if you want more scrap metal.

you need 1x scrap metal for 1x metal ingot, from the normal metal ore you need 2x to make 1x metal bar

regular metal is much easier to gather in far greater quantities. what map are you on?
if on extinction there are loads of metal nodes on the lower part of the city near the waterfalls. if you fly outside towards the corrupted zone you can find many more pure metal nodes.

with an anky and lots of melee points your only problem will be having a big with enough weight to carry so much metal.

Honestly, while scrap does refine at double the rate vs metal, it is easily more than twice as hard to acquire large amounts of, so it is still less effective versus just getting regular metal where there are clusters of nodes near each other.
