I think you missed his point when trying to keep milk fresh the salts expire too fast so that u have to constantly fill the preserving bin with salt or load it up on salt which takes away slots for the milk

SE has been out for years. There was a recent update that made SE a lot easier. It's not a headline nor is it news. Its meant to be hard and time consuming.

Yeah, it is intended to be that way. It is one of the unique features of the SE map versus the other maps: Food Spoilage, access to water, and dehydration in general are much bigger concerns on SE, and they are supposed to be.

If you are playing singleplayer, and you really want to change this, you can just adjust the food spoiling speed setting in the startup options, or if you have the Structures plus mod installed, the S+ Refrigerators allow preserving salt to be put inside them, which stacks with the refrigeration effect to significantly increase the amount of time on both the items and the salt spoiling.

This or a ridiculously high stack mod

You can configure your own stack sizes in the INI files now so not stack mod needed. My personal servers, I have increased the preserving salt stack size to 20
