How does auto-decay work?

I've a base up for over a month now with no probs. I built some foundations with plant x in them 2 days ago and it got auto-decay destroyed this morning.

How does this decay work?

Shouldn't work like that. If you use h to see extended hub, you should see the count down timer.

There is a lone structure fast decay 12 hours for pillars.

Structures which are not connected to other structures are not counted as buildings. They are getting way lower decay timers than if the structures are connected to others.

He did say foundations (plural). But I guess he could have placed lone foundations.

So I'd need to have 2 foundations snapped together for them to be immune to decay?

2 foundations, a foundation and a wall, a foundation and stairs, etc. This is why pillars have ladders in pillar spam areas.
