Lagging even on the Lowest Settings and on start up
My PC Specs are Processor: AMD FX(tm)-8350 Eight Core Processor 4.00 GHz
Installed RAM: 16GB RAM
System Type: 64 Bit 64 Based Processor
Graphics Card: AMD Radeon 8GB R9 390 Series
I know this game is Unoptimized, but I don't get why I can barely run this game at all? When I start the game up, and I get into the loading screen, it freezes a bit and then it starts to load, but it's laggy, and when I would try to find a server in the list, the game freezes for a long period of time. If I would try to join a private server my friend has, the game freezes and I will time out/lose connection. She has Mods of course, but that shouldn't be an issue. I can't run this game on Epic cause it's way too laggy for some reason, and even lowest is pretty bad. It's smooth, but I would like it to be smoother, if you get me? Now, I have been able to join her server, but when I actually get in, it lags and I will crash. I was able to join about maybe 2 or more times and now it can't even get in at all. I hope y'all can figure out what I can do to fix my issue, but for now I can't play Ark. Like I said, I SHOULD be able to play this game on Epic, or even High, but I can't. My friend, she built her PC for Ark, and I built mine to be able to run High end games, and she has no issue.

The min specs wildcard listed on the steam page aren't correct. You need way more power than listed there.

The problem is that your CPU is to weak / to old.
Have a look at the task manager while your in the game menu. You will see that your CPU is on 100%.

My CPU is in the 20-30 range. It's not at 100%

This is totally wrong. I run a i5-7600k @ 3.8Ghz, 16 GB DD4 Ram @ 2400Mhz, and a GTX 1060 3GB... and I get a rock solid 60 fps with my settings split between medium (shadows in this game are a fps killer) and High (textures, view distance, etc.) It's all in the settings. In OP's case, the system is MORE than powerful enough to run Ark. I'd suggest validating your files, as this sounds like a corrupted download to me. Failing that, turn down settings (resolution scaling should stay up, ESPECIALLY if you need to downtune the resolution, as it's the biggest impact on fps).

Edit- As a followup, an SSD for Ark is a huge help with load speeds, and may help you considerably.

I've tried to Verify the files at least one time, and I literally had nothing change.

If u check my profile u will see my system specs.
System specs are always a recommendation. Not a mandate. I have screen shots of ark to back up my statements.
Ark is a hard game to run, lots of data, content and "npcs". Besides unreal engine being what it is.
Copy paste ur system specs from steam.

Op needs to post what steam sees.

Why? I see "epic is laggy", as it would be, it's a 390. Very few if any cards run Ark at default Epic for solid frames. Take a peek at my images, find a recent one with settings. That'll fetch 60fps solid on a 1070 - which is considerably more powerful than a 390. It is not full epic. Never will be.

However... that's a different thing to SERVER LAG so you need to address this as a separate issue too.

Firstly, Does Ark run fine on SP and/or on official servers?
You say your friend hosts "private" - as in hosted or own PC?
How many mods and which map?
Have you completed downloading all the mods she uses?
While back I played on Official server, and that ran fine on High, that was a while ago. My friend hosts the server on her OWN PC. How many mods? From what I gather, ,most likely less than 10. And her map is Valguero, and yes, I've downloaded ALL of her mods. I was able to join her game at least 3 times, but then it decided to keep timing me out. And how does a 390 be considered the issue? I've checked the recommended specs, and from what I saw I have what I need. Not everyone that has my card or a different card is having the same issue. I've been told from different people that they have the same or lower specs and it runs just fine for them. Just saying, don't get offended if I sound rude.

Still need to post what steam sees.

Sorry. All I suggested you do is separate the FRAMERATE issues from the SERVER issue.

They are 2 separate things.

On not being able to run epic, you won't on a 390. Nothing personal in it. It is what it is. Running epic is also not included when you see "recommended" - maximum settings are for systems well beyond "recommended".

And has, been suggested, in order to identify potential FRAMERATE problems, you're best advised to supply system specs'....

On your SERVER issue. So much here not said or known. When servers timeout it is *usually* poorly versioned client/server and/or outdated, incomplete mods. It could also be a weak server, poorly setup, high ping, poor internet, high harvest rates, too many dinos, poorly optimised maps (and Valguero is incomplete) among many other things. The more information you supply, without angst, the better we can help. :)-
Didn't I give you my Specs in the Discussion? I went to Control Panel and System and that's where I found what I said.
Vesuvius May 15, 2019 @ 4:24pm
If your friend is hosting/playing from the same pc... the issue could even be at thier end.

The 390 is slightly worse then a gtx 1060 6g for gaming... wich means high settings at best... with some medium.

Steam itself can see things differently. That is why we ask for specs 'as seen by steam'.

Help/system information/ copy all.

I do wanna ask, if you know, since a 390 isn't gonna cut it, what do you recommend above 390? Cause I use AMD Radeon.

Doesn't give us resolution, HDD type/space, conflicting hardware, driver versions etc. etc. etc... It also can't be faked (not without a great deal of effort). Not saying you do, it's just some.... exaggerate when confronted with the realities of system performance. It's become the default request when helping out.

Many an error has been solved from that little C&P. :)
Btw, I gave you what you need in the last message.
