Alpha Dragon boss Fight (Preparation)
Good day everybody, I'm currently playing on a non dedicated server with identical if not harder stats than official (5.0 difficulty for lvl 150 creatures), no singleplayer settings, cheats (only for glitchs) or mods. No with that out the way I would like to ask for advice on the alpha dragon boss fight, I've already defeated the brood and mega on beta and I only plan on doing the dragon "As a once off"

Resources:
•16 Bred Rex's (20k-27k HP, 350-550 melee) (56+- armour saddle)
• Lvl 250 yuty
• 3 LVL 230-260 pigs
•Tribe of max 4
•Can afford any amount if ammo
•Master craft assault rifles
240-275 Damage/125-190 Durablity)
• Shotguns (200-250 damage/900-2000 durability)

I heard about a strategy involving dear is this still possible? Anyways if anyone has some advice please let me know, much appreciated. PS I can breed other creatures but preferably not :)

I've never heard of that strategy, but I am really interested to hear it. Do you have a link, or can you tell me where to go to see it? Sorry I can't answer you questions

I'd say that's too many Daeodons. They heal very slowly, and run out of food quickly. Having 1 is enough, but 19 rexes and 1 yuty is usually good enough.

What you need the most are high quality saddles. And it's probably best to stay on rexes rather than shooting from ground as the flying dinos might attack you.

I have seen a video of a deer running around the dragon boss fight but didn't pay any mind to what they were doing as I brushed it off as gamey.

I think your melee is too low. Have you tried gamma / beta dragon? I would test them there. I'm actually surprised you got through beta varities of the other bosses but I play solo so perhaps the additional tribe mates helps.

I have same armor saddles and have just been grinding loot drops for better ones until I progress to alpha boss fights. I don't use daedons, I don't feel they offer as much as extra firepower would in a fight assuming you control your Rexes well in a fight.

actually a better strategy is replace rexs with therizinos put about 10-15 sweet veggie cakes on them take 1 pig and 1 yuty. i do this with 21k hp theris and 600% melee. the reason for 21k hp is the theris will auto eat cakes at 8% hp and it heals for a max of 2100. herbivores also take less damage from fire. make sure your saddles are asc id shoot for 150+.

Im pretty sure pig heals dont stack, thus your loosing dps by having pigs instead of rexs which makes you need more healing.

the deer strat is to force the dragon to stay on the ground as they kind lodge him in spot plus again herbivores take less damage vs fire.

I have used the aforementioned deer method on Alpha Dragon and you can sit right under him with a shotgun where he cannot hit you and shoot him in the belly. We took 2 megaloceros (in case 1 died), veggie cakes, mostly rexs to tank the flying stuff, yuty, no pig. Our situation was much easier than yours because we had chocolates and 6 or so people with ascendant shotguns.

As the dragon comes down run in with the deer and try to get aggro. Obviously keep everything away as it lands and spread out so fireballs dont hit your grouped up rexs.

This guy does uses the same method but there are multiple videos about this on youtube.

Not gonna lie, but I laughed hard at that deer strategy.

I suspected it gamey and was right though I guess you could argue the deer is the tank.

Hi firstly thanks all for replays in regards to questions and stuff
• I've been trying to find a decent saddle ( must of raised swamp cave over 50 times) that all I've found.
• I see what you mean about the melee on the Rex's, I think there is only one who got the 350 melee and rest are 450-550 on mine. So hopefully that changes something.
• Thanks for info on the theri strategy, I would go though with it if but I dont want to farm it or something, but remember this is once off (I farm mega atm) and that is A LOT of time to raise theriz from scratch. Will do it but only as last resort.
• Doenst the dragons fire attack make it really hard to do the fight with the Rex's?
• Can someone confirm if the healing on daeodons stack or if it is a waste to bring more than one.
• Does the dragons fire attack 360 degrees around it ( maybe a deer can tank and Rex's can munch behind it)
• exact % damage for the fire attack on herbivores?
Sorry for all questions I'm very curious, cuz I dont alwasy trust the wikis

I strongly recommend getting higher melee for rexes really. As for saddles, I suggest the underwater cave instead of swamp, preferably the easy water cave. Rex saddles are much more common there, along with them being much higher quality.

The easy water cave doesn't have very many threats, the worst you can find is an alpha sharks, but that'd be really rare. Otherwise, Baryonyx can take care of the cave easily as long as you're careful for the jellyfish.

Also, normal and alpha mosy can sometimes spawn in there, but mosys are bugged in the cave where they can't fight back and will instead flee.

You cant get rex saddles in the sea cave the loot boxs dont give em, check the loot table they have. Also I find that the caves levels are bugged (I did the cave yesterday a few times for loot.) I found a level 270 alpha megladon and it killed my lvl 180 mosa in a couple of hits, I do agree with Rex's melee tho, so I probably wont tske them into a boss fight to fight the boss directly I'll probably do what those guys in the video did

I find the west water cave easier to farm personally. If there's an alpha shark, just lure it out of the cave and leave it out.

The cave itself has really high quality chances, and all lootboxes can contain rex saddle. It'll probably still take some time, but it's the fastest method imo.

Armor on saddles does not do anything versus fire breath. Damage goes right through it and is % based. 5 breaths and any dino without healing is down. 20% of health per breath.

Armor only helps against the dragons melee attack and fireball.
Also about herbivores fire resistance against fire breath is heavily discussed topic. Some say it goes through fire res, some say it helps for 20% or so damage.

Well that makes sense on why the alpha dragon fight decimated my singleplayer bossfight group. (that the fire breath bypasses armor) Took in 19 therizinos and rode a yuty and barely won with only 4 therizinos left and myself on the yuty. They each had 3 veggie cakes on them and good saddles and I kept them out of the lava for the whole fight. It was brutal.
