Bright Light flickering: another fix.
I had problems, as the topic says, with screen flickering particularly in very bright areas ingame. I tried all the other suggestions I could find with google, then started experimenting. What finally nailed it for me was to use the NVIDIA control panel to override the color output format to driver-controlled, RGB full-range. Seems if your system is outputting in a partial color format it can cause flickering in ARK.

Edit: It's worth noting I had this problem with an unsupported Freesync setup - GTX 1660 Ti + MSI Optix MAG24C with G-SYNC set to G-SYNC compatible enabled. It's possible that the combination of freesync and partial color output is what ends up causing the flickering I experienced.

Additionally, I continued to experience a very mild flicker when running in WindowedFullscreen mode - it disappeared entirely when I changed to Fullscreen. I just went through a worst-case scenario (Rain + fog at approximately noon ingame) without observing any flicker either outdoors or indoors.

SUMMARY:
If you are running G-SYNC or FreeSync and experiencing flickering in ARK, set your color output mode to RGB Full-range in your graphics driver, and run the game in full screen mode (not windowed fullscreen). For me, this eliminates all flickering.

Try lowering the resolution a bit in your options, that was a solution for some people.

Didn't work, neither did maxing TrueSky quality, enabling / disabling (by force) vsync in the driver, or anything else I could find. I was changing one thing at a time, and it was the color output format that fixed it.

a) necro.
b) ground clutter density has nothing to do with it on my system. It was a problem specifically connected to my using an adaptive sync monitor. I posted it here in case others hit a similar snag.

This thread was quite old before the recent post, so we're locking it to prevent confusion.
