Valguero Map - Poor choice by Devs

Out of all the maps that could have/should have made it to official map status, why did they choose this map?

Steep slopes, cliffs, small plateaus, only goat track access to most areas and a ridiculous amount of trees. I have all the DLC maps including 'The Centre' and 'Ragnarok', on top of this I have experienced a number of other user created maps available on the workshop. Unfortunately Valguero is the least impressive with performance issues such as constant pausing/lagging issues that aren't so apparent in the other DLC and official maps.

I would have been more impressed if they would just fix the sound distorting and balance issues that that ARK has had since day DOT.

What are other peoples thoughts?

LOL this map is optimized very well from my experience, and i'm only running a GTX 970/16GB ram. Also the island has far more tree's so while it is a bit annoying it could be much worse.

It was not a poor choice, it's a beautiful map. The map is better optimized then the launch of Ragnarok. The reason this map was "choosen" was because it won the mod contest at the end of last year beginning of this year.

Oh well, everyone's got something to complain about.

Thank you for explaining why this map was chosen, my experience on optimization is based on the fact that I can play the other maps without having any jerking or pausing going on, whereas in this map I do.

Why do people think that if you post an objective comment its construed as complaining?

Why do people think that their respectable but highly subjective perception (in your case you see Valguero as "the least impressive of the other user created maps") is an objective comment...?

Valguero is just Island 2.0. There are many maps like crystal isle, amissa, olympus, ebonus asterum, that look far better. How ever the problem with most mod maps like those is they over do things. On crystal isle, its just a matter of flying a PT to some floating mountains and picking up rock drake eggs. On unoffical this isnt much of a problem, settings and rates typically make getting harder things not so hard. On official, it would be completely over powered and make other maps not even worth going to because of how easy it would be to get things like rock drakes.

i agree, i'm not a fan of the new map. i find it rather meh and yeah too many trees.

Atm i get 70 to 100 fps on the new map, i love the light show in the night sky

FYI - Yes, i will be uninstalling this map.

Also I played the map yesterday for 7 hours, uncovered most of the map, went into the ab zone, the big underwater cave, killed broodmother and went into the poison cave, etc. Not sure what "constant pausing/lagging issues" you're referring to. My guess would be your potato PC needs an upgrade.
