Game looks horrible on a 2080ti and 9700k
So after building my new pc i now decided to try ARK. My old pc had a 1060 6gb and a 4790k in it and it ran Ark fairly well and the world looked very good even over far distances.
However...

With everything on epic and Nvidia Control panel set to visual the world looks grainy and god awful! Things in the distance like mountains are just big polygons before getting close and they finally render to their normal form. I've also had some gamma glitch where if enter 1st person a dino the gamma goes dark and then back to 3rd person and it gets bright as all heck. This does not happen when i'm not mounted but instead i get screen flashing in certain areas for whatever reason.

It's honestly ruining the experience for me.
My friend has a 1080Ti and a 8700 and his game just looks incredible and we're running identical settings on ARK.

I just don't know what to do anymore at this point.

We are both using the latest drivers available yes.

Doubt your settings are the same. This sounds to me like your resolution scale and Mesh level of detail are off.

Wrong. They're the same. Same res scale and mesh detail is maxed out and it still looks grainy and awful.

turn the settings till the gamet looks better. barely anyone who plays game has it running on a pc that can actually run flawless. so bite the pillow and swallow ur pride and turn the graphics down

This is not a matter of pride so i don't know why you'd even say something as dumb as that.
I've obviously tried running it on lower graphics but NEWS FLASH!
It looked even worse. The point is that the game looks absolutely horrenduous for some reason while someone with a worse (but not bad) pc has the game running stunningly but i can't seem to make it look nearly as good.

Just for ♥♥♥♥♥ and giggles - Steam - Help - System Information - post that here.

Let's see if Steam isn't using you iGPU for fun. Your 9700k has a UHD 630 iGPU - so its bound to look like crap on that, but will run solely because the 9700k and your Ram can probably handle ARK just fine on its own.

Your hardware should be more than capable to run it at max settings lol.
I'm running the same GPU but with a 7700K, and I can easily run it at 1440p with max settings.
I'm suspecting it might be a visual glitch in the settings. Try changing all settings to low and then to max again, especially resolution scale.

It does run everything at max and at 90+ fps easily (Depending on where i am on the map) but it just looks horrible. 'll try switching everything to low and back to max including the scale once i've time.

I've seen posts in the recent past of people saying that 2080s and Ti's have had issues with Ark. Which kinda worried me as I bought a 2080 on sale a couple weeks ago, but its been working for me.

Worst case scenario you got a an unlucky roll with a 2080ti/Ark combo....

That's possible but every other game has fun absolutely flawlessly and while i get plenty of fps in ark with everything maxed it just doesnt look good which is just so disappointing.
