Phoenix r stupid hard to find
I've had 20 heatwaves and i flew all over the map every time, yet i cant find a single phoenix.
I do have my own theory that they meshed on my server and am uncapable of seeing them.
This could be the case but if it isn't i'd like a little assistance on finding one.

from what i saw there is always 3 phoenix on the map and unless you are flying on a wyvern you are no likely to run into them without a scanner within the alloted time, which i feel is about 5minutes?

get the little jerboa things to give you a heads up of coming heat waves, then right before one starts flyfull speed on the entire map, i'm sure you will spot one, they fly about as high as a quetz.

but with all that aside. if you are just a collector i would say go for it. Its an experience.

if you are wanting to use it as travel mount/smelter I would say...don't do it, its not worth the time and it won't be anywhere close to replacing a forge.
their carry weight is garbage their sta sucks and they smelting speed is about as fast as a stone forge.

I've only ever seen 1 and I immediately built a trap and captured it but I probably spent 2 weeks hunting for it and murdering the wild dinos like there was a Purge going on.

so you're suggesting to commit mass genocide to hopefully make a phoenix spawn correct?

Dung, if you are on an unofficial server S+ Tek Transmitter has a dino scanner. If you're on official then you're boned and will have to search other SE servers.

The above is also an option albeit less efficient.

That's how mine eventually spawned in the desert. Murdered a lot of innocent dinos.

Unfortunate. You could always raid someone who has a phoenix and hope for a cryo'd one :D

scorched is quite unpopular on my server, although there are some bases, they are armed to the teeth

Can the Tek Helment still detect the Phoenix in ash form (non heat wave) like it use to?

We use to use that to locate while there is no heat wave. But its been a long time since we tried

Time to add the Phoenix to Ragnarok!

We use to use that to locate while there is no heat wave, but a pen around the 'ash' and wait for the next heat wave
That's how I found mine but I don't know if it still functions either.

my experience was about 5 months ago. tekhelmet didn't work. owls heat vision didn't work. spamming pillars/foundations RIGHT over their ashes location didn't work.

Their ashes are supposed to be visible and i suppose you might get lucky you might see one, but from all the ones i chased when they land, they leave no ashes.

once i even found one that glitched and it never turned to ashes, it was simply NOT flying and fully visible half way into the ground. unfortunately that time my lesson was that the housing needed to be...MUCh higher and it escaped from me when the heatwave came.

so basically, a scan can give you its location, otherwise you gotta fly fast and find one and follow it to where it lands.

I just saw one on the Hope map about a minute from my base yesterday. I had no idea what it was and just flew around it to avoid it. We have the S+ Tek Transmitter and used it later that day to find a level 300 (max on that server) sabertooth. Tek is not that hard to make on "My Other Life PVE" server cluster. You just need to be on the right map and know where to look for the resources (I think they have 20 different servers in the cluster).

The actual stupid part about them is the fact that they fly away everytime you stepp off.
I HATE them, don't get one, you will hate them too. I tried mods to fix it but they don't work.
I would love them, they are amazing. but to run after them every time you get off is a nightmare and makes them useless. don't bother...

i don't understand how they can put them into the game, test them, and see how they behave every time you get off them. and think "yeah that is nice, that makes sense, one of the hardest tames in the game SHOULD make you scream in anger..not because it is hard to tame, but because you will never use that garbage broken ♥♥♥♥."
what were they thinking? i hate this thing so much....
