Mosasaur Biology and whats wrong with it.
Mosasaur.
You know these as the "Mosa", "Platform Beast", "Giant Arse Fish", "WTF IS THAT THING?"
Let me explain some things about them.
The Mosasaur is not a single creature. It is an entire group of 38 Large Marine Reptile Species.
Calling it a Mosasaur is incorrect. as for that means they are 1 of 38 species.
The Species ingame is closest in appearance to the Plioplatecarpus.
They Lived in the Late Cretaceous period.
All 38 species breathed Oxygen. And Had No Gills. They would have to go up for air or Drown.
Mosasaurs were adapted for living in Warm Offcoast areas. So them living at the bottom of the ocean where it is cold and far from the shore, makes no sense (plus they would drown)
Mosasaurs would go inland to the beaches to feed, Ingame, they stay far under the ocean and feed on Basilisaurs, Megalodons, and unlucky tribemates that found themselves down there.
Mosasaurs In Real Life, Would of gave Live Birth. Ingame they lay eggs.

In Conclusion. Ingame they never breathe, live in the midnight zone, lay eggs, incorrectly feed, live far from inland, and make no logical sense.
Thank you for reading. I WILL make more of these on some of the other species from ark. Dont suggest any. I will choose.

This is Ark.

Ark is not a dino game.

Ark has never been a dino game, since day one.

This is normal for the creature to not be accurate to real life records.
Are there any that are accurate? I really can't think of one. Maybe a fish?
But its a game, based WAY in the future, where all the animals are created by a giant machine and 'beamed in'. All animals have forgot how to even mate unless we force them.

It's a fantasy survival game ... just let it go. If that bothers you don't look to hard at Ichthyosarus... It looks like a Dolphin and they consider it a reptile. I don't know warm blooded /cold blooded ... ah hell let's make it a reptile.
I think you're reading this wrongly people. He never said that Ark should be changed to make mosas more realistic, all he did was point out the differences between the in-game mosa and the irl mosas. An educational post, really; not a complaint.
Same thing with bronto , Helena called IT that and everyone calls IT that in ark. She knows it may not be it but just calls IT that way

Lots of stuff is incorrect when compared to actual fossils/reconstructed remains of the prehistoric creatures featured in ARK. Mainly in terms of size/diet/capabilities, some etc.

However, this is a video game.

We can discuss inaccuracy for fun, but it's there for a reason. Whether it be for balance, a scientifically disputed rendition of a creature from a fossil(very few prehistoric creatures can be 100% accurately reconstructed based on bones alone), or purely just the fact the dev team wanted it to be a certain way.. It's a game.

We could also be talking about the fact all the creatures in ARK are existing at the same time, whereas in prehistory, a T.Rex existed closer to US than to a Stegosaur. Or the fact there's a literal DRAGONS or GIANT SPIDERS... How about all those robots?

Or the fact it's a giant floating habitat in space...

You tell me :)

It always bothered me that nearly all of ark's insect creatures are from the carboniferous but then they threw in titanomyrna too. The ants are only about 50 million years old, the rest of them are 350.
Mimimi about a mosa but no mimimi about a mantis, velo or wyvern? ok, cool.
The Mosasaur in game gives live birth tho
Its a game when ark would be have 100% of all dino species it didnt would be 100gb big it would be 100petabites big

Yeaaaahhh..NO please don't You will just waste peoples time and continue to sound like someone who has never played ARK.

1. its a game, even the whales don't come to the surface for air.
2.Mosas lay eggs? that made me think you have never played ark. I have bred MANY mosas, I have never seen this mythical egg you speak off.
3.far from land? deep but not always far from land.

in conclusion I get the feeling you haven't actually played ARK.

You should just say "I don't think so Tim."
Can't wait till your next post ^^
OP you are right somewhat, but about the wrong game, it's too late to make it look like your vision, there is however another game that focuses more on the animals realism. the isle.

HA!

The only realism in the Isle is the appearance of the dinosaurs, when the Isle is done it will just as unrealistic as ARK.
