You say the difference between a perfect kibble tame and a mutton tame was at one point 20 or 30 levels rather than 11? That's definintely more in line with what i expected when I first figured out Kibble.
Ah well in the end just modify one's own rates as desired, we can't rely on devs to do the balance work ;)
*this is all my subjective preference, I fully concede.
When ragnarok came out some people criticised it for being too easy - high levels are common and sheep are everywhere.
The difference between kibble and mutton used to be less - mutton was like 1 or 2 levels different but it was nerfed because of - you guessed it, sheep are too easy to find and tame.
What I was referring to was the difference between using kibble and using another option - at which time mutton was not easy to find, the only maps were island scorched and center.
I'd also like to say that I was super pissed when they opened transfers to scorched earth having spent a month or two breeding the best paracers on the server. Tamed with veggies because there were no pachy eggs on the map. Instantly my perfect tames were 20 levels lower than the ones coming in. And each one took somewhere over 8 hours of babysitting
You can even claim that the majority of Gamers would prefer it to be more easy. And you'd probably be correct. But that doesn't make us wrong.
In some cases Mutton is faster than kibble . We need to ask what is the overall cost your willing to pay ?
Are people willing to save / shave a minute or two off taming at the sacrifice of breed line stat bonuses ? The food you use and the taming effectiveness plays a major role in the future . What the original parents stood up as affects the offspring .
The best example I can give is with a Basilo. Tamed basilo's are not strong enough to fight strong alpha sea creatures. Even with a dam good saddle . The bonus levels that roll over and the good stats you want roll over as you breed can go in bigger numbers. Take that same good saddle that was on the parent and place it on the a generation or two down the line and you now have an Alpha sea creature killer , fighting multiple alphas at a time.
They will never see the inside of a boss run but they are at their best .
It''s not really about just boss run dino's . It's about the steps you take in care and time you want to give to your tames . Kibble offers you a chance to put a tame/ breed line at it's best . If you put forth the effort , you'll see it in the long run.
While on the other hand mutton will do the job faster to get that tame standing up. (minute or two) If that time that you saved is critical ... why bother with imprinting as well ? Imprints can take up allot of time and sometimes the ask for kibble . Even more time consuming is gathering resources for saddles . Save yourself some time and don't worry about getting good level blue print saddles just make the ones you have engrams for .
In the end you'll have a Non-kibble feed , breed line with no imprint bonus , no rider bonus and "movement" saddles and saved all kinds of time and effort.
