It's simple, basically you must have the male and the female of the same species. Then I suggest you to fence them tight for the breeding, and when you do, enable breeding to both your animals. A heart should appear on, near the names (if I remember correctly). If they are mammals, the female should get pregnant and if they lay eggs, well, the female should lay an egg (or two or three but it's rare). Hope it helped :)

You don't have to enable wandering anymore.
There is a wheel option to just enable breeding.

I see, thanks. It's just that I'm not playing this for a while.

Keep the eggs incubated. If you are playing modded there are several mod that help with that.
If you are playing unmodded the use Air Conditioners.
Stats are based on the parents and random. Takes lots of time an patience.

Stats pass from parents , but NOT levels you put , only stats parents had after taming will matter , then get the right temp for the egg , wait for it to hatch and claim the little Dino , then put meat im his inventory , he wont eat from feeding troughs till 10% maturation , and then he will Ask for "care" , the more care you will give him the better stats he will get.

Ideally you use air conditioners to hatch eggs but torches, tames that provide a temperature buffer or even dropping an egg in shallow water can get an egg into it's incubation temperature range.

Good stats come from wild creatures, you tame a lot of them then breed to combine the best stats onto the babies.

If you level or imprint your breeders, it makes record keeping difficult and has no benefit in breeding.

Once you get to a point where you are finding that wild tames are no longer contributing to the stat pool you move on to mutations.

Useful mods for breeding:
Structures plus
Super spyglass

Yes... use this one.... but do the mutations on the male side, not the female.
