I need fix
Steam menu -> Help -> System Information. <--- Basic Info needed!!
The D3D device error is often related to your GPU drivers being way out of date, or being too weak to handle ARK.
Without further informations - there's nothing the community "helpers" can do.
I did not see any difference with -norhithread. Sometimes, I can reset game resolution to get a stable game, other times it crashes when I press any of the move buttons after loading a game.
I have played ARK over 2000 hours, but I have not done any boss fights or caves because of the hang. Very frustrating.
placing -norhithread in your launch options may or may not work.
This crash is affecting a ton of games that use UE4.
Are they at least working on a solution?
Do note that UE states that the problem was solved in May of 2019. Obviously this is wrong, as people are now getting the same exact crashes as before.
This page does list a few things you can try. most of them involve setting a launch option for the game.
The most common listed launch command to use is;
-norhithread
If that doesnt work (which it hasnt for me sadly), you can try to just use;
-sm4
or
-d3d10
or both.
This crash problem really frustrates me, as I have a i7-9700k, 16gb ram, and a 1070ti. more than good enough to play the game...but the engine is just like "nope, denied"....
What frustrates me even more....is that I live about an hour away from Epic Game's headquarters here in North Carolina. Ive got half a mind to drive there and give them a piece of my mind...but i dont think it would go over to well lol.
Sadly no. If none of the fixes above work, then the only thing you can do is to wait for Epic Games to fix the problem, as they are the only ones that can make changes to the UE4 engine.
Mine was working fine when I used windows 7, then I updated to 10...because an i7-9700k required it lol.
Thankfully, Ark is thus far the only game to have this issue for me.
