Best way to gather stone?

I heard Ankylosaurus were supposed to be good. I tamed one, but I only get maybe 10 stone from a rock. And that tale swing is slower than I could gather that much with a pickaxe, let alone a regular axe. What gives?

Doedicarus is the best. Level melee and weight.

Get an argentavis with a lot of weight, and a doedicurus with a lot of melee. Pick up the doed with the argy and fly it near rocks, the doed will automatically break the rocks and gather stone. The more melee on the doed, the more stone it will collect. The more weight on the argy, the longer you can do this before getting weighed down.

actually, doedics only collect stone by themselves until their weight is filled to around half. after that point, you will need to empty it or collect the stone yourself while riding it. as such, the doedic will stop collecting stone long before the argy is encumbered due to the naturally high weight argies have. if you want to collect stone automatically for longer at the expense of less stone per rock, level weight on the doedic.
