SP time passing?
Is there a way, besides getting a host, to get time to go by as if the game is online? I've been away from the game for the past 8ish months and I want to go back to it but in sp. The problem is, I don't want time to be stuck at where I last logged, I want it to keep passing so I get new spawns and more resources while I'm away but as far as I can tell you can only do that if you get a host. Is there a way around this though or is it really the only option?

Just leave the game running when you quit playing.

Only way is to host your own dedicated server.

Leave your local play running. Even online games time freezes when server goes down similar to your solo play when you exit the game.

If you quit a SP game, this game stops, afaik. Even if you leave the game running. You must be in your game (on the map). But you can of course get to your house and just leave the game there.

Tip: strip of all posessions and get at least a bed (NOT a sleeping bag). Because, you will die. (at least because of starvation and/or dehydration...) But if you do, the time runs, afaik.

Or you start your own dedicated server, play there and leave the sever on, once you leave your game.
(I didn't try this, and I don't know, if this is possible from the same machine with the game only installed once... I also don't know, if you can install your game more than once, if you only have one steam-account.)

If you sit in a chair or lay in bed then you do not consume food or water so can safely afk.

I prefer running a dedicated server on my gaming machine when I play SP so I can leave the server running though I usually afk in game (while sleeping and at work) so that my dinos get passive XP. Only problem is you get called out on forums as a no lifer for playing 100 hours a week haha.

So it IS possible to run the game twice on the same machine? Or how do you join your own dedicated game? I'm a pure noob in such things as hosting a sever... especialy dedicated.

I do believe you can type in the console cheat slomo 5 and it speeds up time for everything..dino consumption, growth of plants, babies growing etc. Also makes your player and dinos run faster. I usually use slomo 5 and cheat fly to explore the map on a dino or whatever if I am trying to do something or find something on single player. To revert the change just do cheat slomo 1

Ark Server Manager. Works great. I run my own server on my machine and it's less laggy then regular single player (most of the time). I haven't messed with it in 6 months or so, but I've been feeling the Ark Itch lately.

I don't have a dedicated machine, I play on a laptop that barely runs the game xD I do like the option of doing slomo more than getting a host though so I think I'm gonna do that.

Hope it helps @Neko. It usually works wonders for me on SP.

The resources spawn way way way faster in SP then MP,because as we know the SP time freeze, for balance reason ofc.

about "so i can get new spawn" the only thing you can do is DestroyWildDinos before leaving the game. You can stay afk for a century, the SP world will freeze anyway, only what is around you is "alive".

Or,how they said a dedicated server and bla bla bla to waste money you don't really need to spend

Ark Server Manager is free...
It's worth trying Neko, if it works you can tweak everything with the server to suit your playstyle. Spawn rates, taming efficiency, etc.
