Basilisk was a let down

For something that hard to get I expected better. Now, the basilisk is pretty strong. It moves fast across land, it attacks fast, it has a ranged attack, loads of HP, loads of weight.

Cons:

Unlike the drake and the spino, everything that can attack, will attack, including the all too ridiculous ravager packs that will do more than a bunch of spinos. This also means that using it in the blue/red areas isn't worth it as you can just walk by most things on the spino.

Takes massive amounts of fall damage for some reason, unlike the drake or the ravager. Even the spino doesn't feel like it takes this kind of crazy fall damage. It does go up some hills that the spino won't, but in a world where you have a rock drake that climbs anything...

Buggy. I've fallen through the world on this thing twice. In a 3 highwall base it will glitch into the ceiling and tries to put itself above it.

Slow swimmer, bury ability while amusing doesn't really serve a PvE purpose, gets hung up on everything, when attacked by small creatures it can be hard to see them since they tend to move back behind it's head to attack.

I agree while I adore how it looks and its general beefyness it definently needs different aggro settings, and slightly less fall damage. It kinda makes sense for it to be weak to falling since snakes dont really have good skeletal structures for falling but its ridiculouse rn.

If everything is going to attack me anyway, the ravager is far more versitile, takes no fall damage, and can go across lines.

But as stated, you almost certainly have a rock drake, this makes the basilisk 100% useless.

exactly quite, thats why if it didnt aggro much and didnt have the radiation weakness it could take its place as a high end mount.

i too have now glitched through the ground and fallen through space twice while riding one of these...and its stupid annoying because now i just lost all the gear i had as well
they need to fix this somehow
